• Pseudo-Immortal.
• While Vampires are able to go out in the light they’re severely weakened by it especially during the middle of the day and most tend to avoid it.
• While they’re immortal they can be killed if enough damage is caused to the body. Decapitation and fire are usually the best ways to go.
• They must feed regularly, usually around 3 to 4 times a week otherwise they find it very difficult to pass as alive. They tend to be pale/cold to the touch and have no pulse which makes it difficult for people to think of them alive when they get close.
• Any vampire can sire a child. Generally the vampire first feeds from the child before the child is given the blood of the vampire. Some say its a virus, some say curse, others say magic. Whatever is in the blood of the vampire causes a form of death which the child would wake from around 12 hours later. Each vampire goes through a different process - if the transformation is welcome then it is as easy as sleep, if it isn’t then the process is generally very, very, very painful. During this time a bond is formed between sire and childe, sometimes a very weak thing if the sire is not present but it is something which can be very strong if the vampire is present not only during this process but after.
• They are unable to touch anything holy so long as whomever is holding or using it to ward them away holds the same belief. They do find it painful to be in the presence of holy objects and it often feels like an irritant or burn which gets more intense the longer they are exposed.
• They’re much stronger than an average human and have heightened speed, reflexes and senses.
the werecreatures.
• All werecreatures are highly influenced by the moon and generally need to turn during the full moon. As they grow older it is possible to put this off but they do find it very, very difficult and very, very painful. They can change at will during any time of the month, they don’t need the moon to do it but the moon calls the animals forth. Younger wolves often find it harder to keep control and will not be able to call forth their animals at will.
• Werecreatures are either born (there is a higher birth rate between were/were couples) or created. In order to create a were the human must be savaged close to death or blood/saliva mixed when close to death. The general thoughts are that the animal side of things kick in to save whomever it is. As mentioned weres can give birth however it isn’t vastly common and tends to stick within established families already. A were!male and human!female are able to reproduce but there is only a small chance that they would be were.
• They do not like silver. It causes burns and if exposed to the skin for too long will scar badly.
• Were animals tend to stick to obvious types: wolves and big cats (lions, tigers etc.) being the most obvious of these however there is also bear, coyotes, foxes and certain birds (Eagle, hawk etc.). These are a little bit more rare especially birds.
• They have slightly lengthened life spans though they’re certainly not immortal and can live around 20 to 40 years longer.
• They have a great healing factor with small/minor wounds healing in a few hours with minor breaks in a day or so. The bigger the wound the longer it takes but it is never the same length it would be as a human. Silver takes the longest to heal.
• Much like vampires they have heightened senses, speed and strength.
the gifted humans.
• Basically human in every way it counts. They don’t have longer life spans or heightened senses but they do come with a few extra gifts. This is often passed through family members but it isn’t unheard of for it to simply be random.
• Gifted don’t necessarily always know they’re gifted as their abilities can fly under the radar as it were.
• There is nothing special about them beyond whatever gifts they may have.
• The number of gifts they could have ranges from 1 to around 3. Usually they’re all very interconnected.
the demons.
• Demons come in a few flavours. First are the most common: the blood demons. They are born from the very first angels who fell to earth. How strong they are varies on how often it has been a demon/demon partnership though many families have tried to keep the bloodlines as pure as possible.
• The second kind of demon is that of smoke and spirit, those very first demons themselves. These are capable of possessing any human they see fit. There are even some families of humans who are specifically bred to be hosts to demons, these are usually looked after by blood demons or gifted demons until a demon is capable of possession.
• All demons have heightened strength, speed, reflexes and senses.
• Much like vampires they are unable to come into contact with holy objects, it burns and causes them terrible pain. Even being in the same vicinity causes a lot of pain.
• Blood demons are able to live to around 500 while spirit demons are technically immortal. If the host they are within dies they must find a new host as quickly as possible otherwise they will be dragged back to Hell.
• Like gifted humans they tend to have 1 to 3 powers.
the witches.
• Somewhat similar to Gifted humans in that they all have an innate gift, something which comes easily to them whether it is kindling flame, working with healing, flying, walking through shadows. What makes them different - and thus more powerful - is the rest of the stuff they can do.
• All witches (unless there is some sort of magical interference) are able to work with magic and make spells. How they do spells differs from witch to witch. Some work with words, some with shapes and vigils, some with runes and others with candles and writing. There are, truthfully an infinite number of ways and each one is very personal not only to the witch but the family to whom they belong.
• There is no way to become a witch, they are born and it is never a random occurrence.
the angels
• Unlike their demonic counterpart Angels are a rare, rare find unless they are fallen or simply part angel. There are many tales of how angels have visited Earth but for the most part they stick to their own realm, Heaven.
the fae.
There are many different types of fae. Each type of fae has its own classifications. More information to come as different types of fae are apped.
the halfbreeds.
• Only a few races are capable of successfully breeding together and creating a mix. Humans can have children with most races however with werewolves they are simply werewolves. A human/angel, human/demon, human/witch or human/gifted will make (generally) weakened versions of whatever the race is other than human.
• There are no wolf/vampire or vampire/demon mixes. Angel/Demon mixes are very, very, very rare.
the hunters.
• Humans born with supernatural abilities - extra speed, strength and healing abilities - who are taught from birth to track and hunt supernaturals. Some might think all supes need to be destroyed while others may only go after the ones who seem to be doing something wrong.
