CURRENCY Gold, copper and silver coins are used as currency for the Beyond and there is a banking system which will allow for these to be exchanged into dollars for Arillius.
RELIGION There is no set religion for The Beyond as a whole, nor even for each race. The most common is the worship of the Old Gods, or the Varsir of which there is a vast pantheon full of myths and legends though the main would be the Mother Goddess and Father God. The religion of the Old Gods is very pagan in style. TECHNOLOGY While more modern technology is sometimes seen in The Beyond it takes a lot of fiddling for magic and technology to mesh well. The city of Thadius' was the most cutting edge with the use of steam. Guns have also been seen through out the land though they are usually older fashioned pistols or rifles. While some of this has been lost they have managed to re-create much at Seafarer's rest. A lot of technology from the modern realm is borrowed and re-twisted with magic; cell phones have been adapted into communication discs, spelled metal held against the skin which allows for long distance communications if the correct spells are known for connection or there are the journals. Simply because magic doesn't like technology all that much doesn't mean they don't try to re-create it in their own way and well, magic is almost limitless. MEDICINE Without magic the medicine of The Beyond would be slightly primitive however with the use of spells, herbs, potions etc. and those with healing powers they get by well enough. TRAVEL The most common form of travel would be by horse but it isn't the only way to travel - sometimes there are shadowalkers or those with teleportation who will sell their power for money. There are also a number of beasts can be ridden. the land of The Beyond is a very, very big place and it takes a number of months to ride the width of it.
The map is no where near complete and will be continuously added as places are dreamed up during the course of the game. Want to add a town? village? river? landmark? Just comment here and include what and where and which tile it is in and we will add it as soon as possible!
the beyond
the shadowed isle of echor
Echor has not always been darkened, before the Nihilm it was a beautiful land, a sister Isle to Asheth. The Nihilm swept across it and shrouded it with shadow and purple light, they twisted the forests into places of nightmares. It still has a beauty to it but its deadly, its a carved blade which would strike if you get too close. Much of it is steeped in wild magic, an energy which crackles in the air and as such is a dangerous place to work magic if you are not used to its mischievous and cruel ways. Be careful where you go in Echor, it isn't safe to be out there alone.
ANTUL The capital city of Echor. Often call the Blood City and not only because of the Royal vampires who dwell within. The city itself is made of dark stone, almost black with a smokey crimson sheen. It is a sight to behold, something glorious and beautiful. The Demos Palace is staggeringly beautiful, all sharp lines and black pillars reaching to the sky.
RESIDENTS Vorian Demos, Lucilius Demos, Aneesha Demos.
the torn isle of asheth
A place of quiet beautiful, an isle of forest and mountain, of woodland and fields. War has left its mark upon Asheth but it still thrives, still gives life to the inhabitants. In the South is the ruin of the great city of Thadius, a corpse of what once was a beautiful city.
THADIUS The once capital city of Asheth, it is now nothing more than rubble and ruin. Or so most think. Beneath the White Keep is a set of tunnels which were created a hundreds of years ago as an escape route. These tunnels lead to Seafarer's Rest, or simply 'The Rest' where the King Kael and the Order currently reside.
SEAFARER'S REST The current major city of Asheth Seafarer's Rest is a peculiar, mis-match of a place. Built partially beneath the sea it rises up through the cliffs to become a small, non-nonchalant town. The city itself is large and sprawling, a loud and vibrant place. The Market place holds every kind of object you could desire, a magical menagrie of shops and stalls which is open to all. The whole place is lit with magic, a place of steam and cogs. Home of the Order getting in often takes a lot of work if you don't know the exact entrances.
RESIDENTS Mistress, Deiniol, Tanith, Dogan, Phoenix, Ceresia.
