Purist Initiative began 14 years after the fall of Harry Potter and the old world order for Magical London. The Death Eaters were now in charge with an oppressive government that prided purebloods above all and held the muggleborns at the bottom of the caste system. Those who married lower than their caste were barred from their own rights. Anyone who sided with the muggleborns were blood traitors. Muggleborns were banned from working outside of the Maiden Head and other jobs that were near-guaranteed death. Muggleborn children were taken from their families and kept at the orphanage where they learned basic skills to be servants, no magic, and were more likely to die from illness or be employed as free labor by the elite than survive.

It was in this world that the Maiden Head experienced its slew of murders. A serial killer began to target the workers at the brothel with macabre scenes of desecrated bodies. Four girls were killed before the man was caught; however, the violence caused a curfew in place and a shutdown of the Maiden Head, which threatened the safety of the muggleborns who now lacked income. The Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, Corban Yaxley, was caught with one such prostitute as the serial killer attacked. He fled the scene, condemning her to death. However, the threat on a pureblood’s life made the issue worthy of investigating finally. Days later, the man was caught.

The killer was a muggleborn who hated the women for selling their bodies and not being interested in him. He was given back to the muggleborn community, who ultimately decided against punitive action and instead kept him in the jail cells built a few years before when the Slums were constructed. He was left there to serve life in prison for his crimes, and the Slums were business as usual.

It started with a cough. A few weeks after the dust settled from the serial killer, a small illness seemingly started in the slums where the weaker were living. However, from there the sickness spread like wildfire through Diagon Alley. Most of the sicknesses were the purebloods and halfbloods or younger muggleborn children. However, most of the adult muggleborns were unaffected by it. The question started with what was it, and second was how did it get to London? For the first answer, the great minds at Parkinson worked their angle while the muggleborns with the help of Ernie Macmillan isolated possible choices through the vaccinations all the adults had received as children. Thanks to smuggled-in muggle medicine books, they were able to discover it was an upper-respiratory disease. However, there was no cure or vaccination process in the magical world.

For the next two months, the death toll rose as the lack of informed caretakers did what they could to manage symptoms. Melinda Bobbin, through the smuggling assistance of Justin Finch-Fletchley, was able to create a cure while she was in St. Mungo’s herself. This cure was largely given to the purebloods with little to spare for the lower classes. As the slow roll-out of medicine happened, riots broke out among the slums and Diagon Alley against the favoritism. In the end, dozens died from the sickness and many others were severely scarred from coughing and damages.

The out cry of that injustice and the violence against the workers at the Maiden Head and lack of safety measures spurred Seren Capper to step up against the sex worker abuses and call for a strike. The Maiden Head effectively shut down and with it, picket lines and marches were organized in protest. On behalf of the Ministry, Rabastan Lestrange agreed to take a meeting and hear out the cases. This meeting was intended to find a middle ground that would fix much of the tension. It only caused more in the Ministry.

The meeting for equality took place, during which an assassination of pureblood and Council Member Caracatus Burke by Poppy Caxton, known extremist. With that started a slew of arrests were made and a trial immediately started. The civil unrest began in full as the rebellion began to be labeled as terrorists, it was found that Poppy was hired from someone on the inside to cause mayhem, and she had lied to her accomplice on who the original target was. During this unrest, the Maiden Head was handed over officially to the muggleborns, as it was no longer “safe enough” to be handled by other hands. Poppy also announced where Neville Longbottom lived to Rabastan, who wiped her memory and ensured that information never got out.

The resistance decided after one of their own turned on them to make a document that ensured their safety. This would have a clause in it that ensured if anyone betrayed them, they’d die. While difficult to decide on and sign, the entirety of the resistance did so. Unbeknownst to them, the Ministry was slowly splintering between the two brothers. As a sign of this, Yaxley attempted to murder Ginny Weasley through the Imperius Charm, which failed. Rodolphus, who headed the Purist extremists turned to Roland Prescott as his second in command and the started the official take over under the surface.

Caxton was found guilty and condemned to death in private, however Rodolphus made this public while his brother was on a personal day for a family gathering. This officially sparked the schism in the Ministry. In a shocking turn of events, Rabastan asked to meet with Neville Longbottom and join sides. It was clear to him that there was so longevity in the purist regime, and he had been on the wrong side of history for far too long. Rabastan and Weasley both signed the documents. However, two weeks later Neville Longbottom was captured and taken to a secret location after the DMLE almost shook the apartment building down. After two weeks, the resistance broke out Longbottom with the assistance of Aileas Macmillan, who was on the inside as a spy. A few weeks later, she, too, was captured and a hunt weas put out on all traitors to the Ministry. With that, Rabastan Lestrange was forced to step down and Rodolphus took over.

Aileas was in prison for only a few weeks, but in that time, the DMLE released werewolves on the city as a show of power. All who were bitten and survived were taken in by the ministry and held captive to be tested on by Grace Avery. The Los Tiburones pack headed by Hit Wizard Captain Benjamín Dunstan took out some of the werewolves, alerting Avery to the existence of more who had not been eliminated in the Purge. The decision was made to put a permanent curfew in place that forced halfbloods and muggleborns to be in danger because of their jobs and released Dementors as part of their security force. Alecto Carrow and Theodore Nott turned against the ministry to help release Macmillan. Nott escaped to France and Carrow returned to Hogwarts where she held up the front that she was holding the children captive rather than keep them safe.

Two weeks into the dementor patrols, inferi were unleashed, as well, dragging residents to undisclosed locations. The ministry was silent on their whereabouts. Quidditch was cancelled and all travel between cities and out of Magical England was banned until further notice to hide the oncoming destruction planned. Rabastan Lestrange was officially listed as a terrorist by the ministry and Rodolphus announced their government as a Death Eater organization. More pressure to turn against the muggleborns was put into place and a call for Longbottom to be handed over was issues, which resulted in riots and unrest. Rabastan, instead, volunteered his life in place of Longbottom. He was executed for treason and war was officially called on the muggleborns and resistance.

The ministry trained new recruits with the intention of expanding their forces into a militia and issued a number of assaults on the slums throughout July. This resulted in arrests of resistance members who were to lay in wait as those on the inside planned their release. For a month they held off. The full take over of the Ministry through tracking charms on captive people, moles, and assault teams worked in tandem with the exterior front line in the slums to divide and conquer. On July 27, with the death of Rodolphus and the recapture of the Ministry by the resistance, the purist regime was over. The next day, work began on the provisional government and purist extremists were put in jail, and Longbottom was whisked away to Northern Ireland, where he was able to start a much needed recovery.

The war was over, but the battles still raged. For months, even as the provisional government worked tirelessly to release all war criminals who were in the Order of the Phoenix or imprisoned for their allegiance to them, Aurors tried to hunt down the missing Purist Initiative leaders and bring them to justice. Some were killed in altercations and others imprisoned. The government moved to get muggleborns reinstated in the worlds, connected with the muggle Ministry, and slowly began to open itself up again over the following year.

Under Kingsley Shacklebolt, the newly elected Minister of Magic, a new era rolled out. One of growth and adaption to the new world. Revolutions in medicine, education and community representation expanded as he opened the government to a more realistic viewpoint for the ever-growing population. The story is not over. The world has not ended.

Purist Initiative, as a game ends with the closure of this plot. However, the game has moved to a GPSL. Thank-you for the year of writing, plotting, emotions, and dreams. Read and enjoy.
