Time really had very little meaning in a place where you were surrounded by stone walls, faintly glowing fauna, and, high above, bats. After settling behind a grouping of rocks by a wall in the cave she’d ended up in, Raven had finally taken the time to go through the bundle she’d scooped up from the Cornucopia before fleeing it. She quickly found it to be a tarp, which she spread out on the ground and pulled over herself to hide the light from her helmet and also help with keeping some of the bat guano off of her, then went through the rest of the items. The salami was the first thing she paid attention to because even though it was, well, salami, it was still food. She wasn’t hungry yet thanks to the dinner back in that hotel room she’d eaten, but she still took a few bites before she turned her attention to the other items. The jar full of peanuts had been interesting, but as she lifted it to open it, she realized that it didn’t make any sounds. Finally, reluctantly, she had opened it away from her and then rolled her eyes as the prank snakes leapt out of it. She was tempted to leave them on the ground, but instead she set them aside with the jar, then turned her attention to the final two items - an empty flask and a set of crampons. After taking stock of her inventory, Raven had finally wrapped herself up in the tarp with the items on her lap and had fallen into a light doze, deciding she might as well rest while she could. Over the next day, she split her time by sleeping in brief snatches and exploring the cave she was in. It had two entrances, and thankfully it was dimly lit. As she explored the cave, she was actually thankful that she’d done the wilderness classes, specifically those relating to caves and fungi and sterilizing water. Eventually, she discovered small white mushrooms that she quickly discovered were edible even though they didn’t taste very good. After picking several, Raven worked on turning her tarp into a backpack, securing the food, jar, flask, and crampons inside, then tying it carefully and using the plastic fake snakes to give it straps she could carry it with her when she would venture out. |
