Remus had heard the commotion before he actually saw it. However, the moment he realized it was happening again he snapped to action, beckoning the Order and alerting Minerva. As quickly as possible, the heads of house ushered their students into the Great Hall in attempt to keep them calm and safe.

Remus had known Snape's death was the beginning of the end. He only hoped the end worked in Harry's favor or Godric help every last individual on the Dark Lord's bad side. Remus' heart was in his mouth as he thought about the last moment he saw his darling baby girl that moment. He loved her something fierce and for that he could not stand idly by. He'd fight for better or worse right by the side of the other Order members who dared to make themselves targets that day.

This wasn't fair. It was too soon. The school was under attack, and while Harry knew it was coming, he wasn't ready. Why the school? Everyone in the wizarding world knew he hadn't been there in months and--

Oh, hell. Who was he kidding? His morals might be missing, but Voldemort's brain wasn't. He knew Harry's weakness was his heart. And he knew Harry's heart was in that school. His friends, his girlfriend, his mentors and even his goddaughter all resided inside the walls of Hogwarts. If Voldemort attacked there, Harry would come. No matter how he needed to keep himself safe.

It wouldn't bother Harry if it weren't for the fact that he knew that the creature was still indestructible. With two Horcruxes still to go, Voldemort remained immortal, no matter how many killing curses were thrown his way. He couldn't do it. Harry couldn't let it happen that way.

But where was that damned cup? Helga Hufflepuff hadn't hidden it away all that well, how could Hepzibah Smith? Or rather, her family, or Voldemort or...whoever had that thing once she'd left it. Merlin, the bloody thing was impossible. He'd been searching for what felt like a century, was well over a year, and he still hadn't the faintest idea. And he knew he didn't stand a chance at that snake until he was face to face with Voldemort himself. And, obviously, he didn't want to do that with another Horcrux still out there...

It was too frustrating for words. Harry gave a stamp of his foot in childish frustration and began pacing, clearly oblivious of the activity surrounding him in the Great Hall. The Order was preparing to fight, the students were hiding, and he...he was just trying to make some sort of decision one way or the other.

Emma Dobbs hated knowing she was too young and too unprepared to fight. Her brother had lost his life to this madman and it seemed a cold twist of fate to know Voldemort and his followers were seizing the school and there was nothing she could do about it.

She hadn't seen Harry in over a year. Not since he had left the school the prior February at least. Still, her heart went out to him. Having the weight of the world on his shoulders couldn't be easy. Nor was it fair. Slowly, she slided over to where he paced. "Harry?" She placed a hand on his shoulder, her big brown eyes wide and filled with empathy.

Harry couldn't help it. He was too wound up and too anxious and, perhaps, a little paranoid. He jumped and grasped his wand almost immediately at the touch, whipping around to face the intruder.

Discovering it was tiny Emma Dobbs who had 'attacked' him, only made him feel emotionally better. Physically, his heart was still racing and he was relatively sure a sweat had broken out on his forehead. "Emma," he said, nearly gasping. "How are you? Alright, then?" He wasn't heartless, after all. That would be the enemy's way. No, Harry was genuinely concerned, if not a bit upset about being disturbed from his thinking. He remembered the girl losing her brother, and remembered his own hurt for her. Just because he hadn't kept in touch with her didn't mean she needed to be snapped at for interrupting...well, nothing.

"I'd say yes, but that would be a lie." She smiled at the irony, showing that 'little' Emma Dobbs wasn't so little anymore. The last year had changed her. It hadn't taken her love or optimism, but it had sobered her some. "Harry, I just wanted to let you know…we all love you and we are all pulling. I wish there was something more I could do but…" She shrugged. "Still a little away from that, hm?"

"Not that it matters," Harry replied, a bit under his breath. No need to let anyone panic. Even if they were all, quite frankly, screwed. "No, positive thoughts are needed too, believe me. We need all of you in here and safe. I know they're working to re-do all the wards on here, at least, so... Yeah. Ought to be alright." But if they could get into what was already considered one of the safest places in the United Kingdom, then Harry knew no amount of charms would hold them long.

"Oh, Harry." Emma gripped his hand. "Everything WILL be alright. It just has to. Evil never wins. Not for good." It was a fairy tale's moral; Emma knew that, but she refused to believe the alternative.

A small, bittersweet smile crossed his face. He used to have that sort of optimism. Back when he dreamed something would come and take him from the Dursleys. And then he'd gotten that wish, and for what? To be dropped into this world, where all he ever did was fight an evil he'd never asked for? "Evil... It may win, Emma. I'm not going to lie to you. We don't... We just don't have what it takes to win at the moment, and we're trying, I swear we're trying, but..."

But Emma shook her head, a fierce expression flickering over her face. "No, Harry! We do! We have one another and that's most important."

"Not if it's physically impossible to win," Harry said before he could stop himself.

"Physically?" She squinted up at him. "But we have lots of people fighting."

Oh, who cared who knew about Horcruxes anymore? It wasn't like the Hufflepuff was going to run out and make one of her own anytime soon, and hell, they could all be dead in the morning anyway. Harry sighed and shook his head. "Voldemort is immortal. His soul is in several pieces, and unless I can find out where this blasted cup that once belonged to Helga Hufflepuff is hiding, then he'll remain that way. And I've got to find it, destroy it, and get back here before he tears the place apart looking for me and putting all of you in danger." Why he was spilling his depths to someone he'd said maybe thirty words to during his school days, he had no idea. Perhaps he was desperate or perhaps he was just exhausted of keeping it all in, but out it came just the same.

Emma blinked several times. Immortal? How could anyone be immortal, never mind in several pieces? Still, she didn't want to appear dumb and so focused on what she recognized. "You need the cup?"

Need the... Well, of course he needed the cup, how else... Wait. 'The cup'? Like it was just any old cup? "Well, yeah," he replied, looking a bit bewildered. "It's not just any cup, Helga Hufflepuff herself had it, see. He used it and now I have to get it."

"W-why…well I suppose that's not important. If you need, you can have it. I'm sure Professor Sprout won't mind."

"Won't... Have... Emma, no, it's... It's a special cup, you know, it's not just..." Now the girl wasn't making any sense whatsoever.

Emma rolled her eyes; she couldn't help it." I know that, silly! That's why it is in that special case in the common room. Professor Sprout tells us the story every year."

Harry blinked. And then, despite how ridiculous it would make him look, he blinked again. "In the common room?" he yelped.

Emma nodded. "Harry? Are you alright?"

"I...yeah...I...." In the bloody Hufflepuff common room. The professors had given him access to it all the last term but he'd never bothered. Because he hadn't felt he needed to. Oh, hell. "It's in your common room? Like...just in there?"

"Behind the case," she repeated.

"Emma..." He shouldn't take her away from there. It was safe in there. But that didn't mean she wouldn't be helpful. "Where, exactly, in your common room and how do I get in there?" It was near the kitchens, he remembered that much.

"I…you need Professor Sprout," she insisted. "I mean it's charmed shut and all!"

Bollocks. And the kindly professor was at least ten times more worried about her students. Harry groaned audibly. "Fine. I'll get it out of her." And if that didn't work, there was always drag the entire Order up there bodily and force them to help. "Thanks, Emma. You've been more of a help than you know. If we win, it's because of you." He leaned over and kissed her cheek quickly before turning and running to find the Herbology professor.

Ginny and Open

Ginny had been up in the Astronomy tower thinking when it happened. A chill ran up her spine and she got the sudden feeling like something was terribly terribly wrong. Trying to brush it off, she had stood up and looked up at the sky, expecting to see the mild clouds that had been hanging earlier in the day. However, her eyes were met with a different sight and she had to brace herself to keep from falling over. The sky had turned into a meanicing grey, clouds swirling violently in the sky as though it would erupt into a storm at any second. Looking around frantically, Ginny needed to calm her nerves. And she still had that feeling that something was amiss.

Glancing back over the grounds she saw hooded figures making their way towards the castle. No. It couldn't be. This was just another one of her nightmares and she'd wake up soon. Only when she turned to run and warn someone, like she always did in her dreams, she stubbed her toe and a searing pain shot through her foot. Well that answered that question.

Realizing that it hadn't just been her worries getting to her, Ginny flew down the stairs towards the main part of the castle, desperate to warn someone. Though it seemed that she wasn't the only one aware of what was going on as a large crowd was now headed towards the Great Hall. Fighting her way through the crowd she searched frantically for anyone from the DA or the Order. She needed to know what was happening what was going to happen if and when the Death Eaters breached the castle. The only thing she did know right then, that when it came down to it, she was going to fight. She was of age now and was determined to stand up for herself, her family and her friends and there was not going to be anyone telling her otherwise.

Colin had been alerted along with Seeley and was doing his best to keep the younger years (and a few of his own age for that matter) calm. He was also desperately searching for his baby brother. He might have been Head Boy, but he was still Denny's big brother and he was going to protect him if it was the last thing he did. However, he spotted Ginny before he found Dennis. Rushing over, he grabbed at Ginny's shoulder. "Gin, have you seen Dennis?"

Ginny turned suddenly when she felt a hand on her shoulder, her entire body tensing for just a moment. She relaxed quite a bit, though not all the way when she saw Colin's face.

"No. I haven't seen him since breakfast this morning." She said, concern filling her voice. After a moment, she gave Colin's shoulder a quick squeeze. "I'm sure he's around here somewhere." She tried to assure him. The redhead glanced around the Great Hall. There was no way they'd spot him in this mess. It was chaos everywhere and Dennis wasn't exactly one of the bigger kids, even in his own year. "C'mon, we'll see if we can find him."

Colin knew it was silly to worry. After all, his brother was too smart to go looking...what was he saying? He was a kid after Colin's own heart. He gripped Ginny's hand and pulled her toward the mass of people. "Right."

Ginny followed nervously behind her friend, keeping a tight grip on his hand. She wasn't about to lose him in this mess as well. Her eyes darted around frantically, wondering how in the world they were going to get all the younger years safe.

"Cols, I...Is this really it? I mean...Y'know...this is really happening again?" She asked swallowing hard as the realization of everything that was going on suddenly hit her full force.

Teddy partly thought he should have just stayed in the hide away. He still recalled his horrid defense skills even if they *were* better than this time last year. He just didn't want to be more a liability than a help. Still, he'd not let Hermione or Harry down. He had to fight even if he'd lose his life doing so. It was a difficult choice, but living with the guilt if something happened to his loved ones would be even more difficult. Perhaps it wasn't prudent of him to go off into battle, but his Gryffindor side compelled him. Besides, Salazar Slytherin might have had a warped idea but he fought for what he believed in for better or worse. Hell, even fucking Voldemort did so. Theodore Nott would roll over for the man who had not only caused his family grief, but tried to kill Harry and Hermione (and Ron, but whatever) on several occasions. Harry had vanished on some task, but the DEs were getting closer. Teddy knew he had to go outside, and thus, hastened outside.

Far too much time had passed between the moment Emma had told him of Hufflepuff's cup's location and then. The cup, with the Horcrux inside now destroyed, seemed as innocent as exactly what it was-just a cup. That left two things on Harry's list of things to-do. It was only a shame that his list was so much more crucial than most.

By the time he rushed downstairs, the Order, the Aurors who'd arrived, and several of his older classmates were already preparing to fight. Harry rushed out to join them, searching desperately for Hermione, Ron, or, god help him, Ginny. He wanted her inside where it was safe, but Harry so rarely got his way on those things.

The first familiar face he saw, though, was not one he necessarily wanted to. Better than, say, Malfoy, but still not the first to spring to his mind on his list of people he was worried about. And yet, Teddy had become a friend. A close one, though he'd never take the place in his heart that Ron and Hermione had. So Harry rushed up to him, breathlessly. "Have you seen the others?" he asked quickly, eyes still darting around at people with their wands drawn and other weapons at the ready.

Teddy shook his head, his own mind on Hermione. He desperately tried to clear the image of her strewn about the ground covered in blood, knowing such nightmares would serve nothing but to distract him. Something he could not afford to be just then. However, he was also worried about Draco and Angus and, oh Salazar, his mum.

Hearing the voice before he actually saw him, Teddy focused enough to realize the words were spoken by Harry. "No," he admitted. "Are you alright?"

"Fine," Harry blurted quickly, though it was obvious to anyone who knew him even remotely well that it was a lie. Not knowing where the rest of his friends were made Teddy's words even less comforting. "Just fine, really, I..." Oh, Merlin, he could hear them. They weren't far at all now, and it wouldn't be long. "How are you?"

"Uh, been better?" Teddy blinked as several Death Eaters were being held off by some of the other Order members. "Oh, sweet Merlin…" He glanced around, his wand outstretched. He heard someone shout something about the Nott boy and quickly issued a stunning curse before pulling Harry to the side. "You can't just be out here," he hissed.

"Where the hell else am I supposed to be?" Harry countered, a twinge of annoyance in his voice. "In hiding? Not anymore, Teddy, it won't work. It's got to be me, we all know it by now." Glaring in the direction he'd just been pulled, he whispered a leg-locker curse and couldn't help a tiny flutter of pride when he heard a yell. Wandless magic had gotten easier since he'd left school.

"Yes, it has to be you…" He glanced around. "Against HIM. Not these ones!" He shook his head in irritation. "Harry, please, you have to be careful." He noticed Bill off to the side with one of them and felt his heart leap into his throat. He had a baby at home! Professor Lupin and Miss Tonks too!

He hated when Teddy was right. And the Slytherin was annoyingly right so very often. Harry wasn't going to stay in hiding while his friends fought and possibly lost their lives. "I don't care," he hissed angrily, wand still drawn, looking frantically over Teddy's shoulder and around. "We need all the help we can get out here, it'd be foolish of me to sit inside and hide like a coward until he gets here."

"Coward my arse! It is foolish to go running off. You are not invincible and if you are the only one who can, well, you know…" Teddy pulled Harry behind a tree to try to avoid the bountiful amount of curses flying around. "If you die before that, well, what the heck? Who else can face that bloody madman?"

"You can," Harry argued. "You, Hermione, hell, little Rose Zeller could take him, so long as someone gets to that bloody snake first."

Now Teddy knew he was losing it. "Harry! You know that's not true and what the hell does a snake have to do with it?"

"The Horcruxes, Teddy!" Harry all but yelled, then lowered his tone. Not that anyone would hear him over the hexes being shouted and the yelling from pain and anger. Still, wouldn't do for anyone to overhear that little conversation. "All we needed was to get rid of them and the only thing left is that bloody snake!"

Teddy blinked "No need to yell! I didn't realize one was a stupid snake and…what the hell? How will we know WHICH snake?"

Harry sighed, itching to be in on the fighting. He heard a familiar voice yelling that he thought might be Bill Weasley's, but he was unable to turn and look. It was literally driving him mad that he couldn't help. "It's not just any snake," he responded quickly. "Its name is Nagini, and it belongs to Lord Voldemort." Pausing, Harry inhaled sharply. His scar burned at the name. It wouldn't be much longer. "You'll know her. Everyone knows her. She's his pet and probably the only thing he actually gives a damn about that's not himself."

"Well, isn't that cliché. Slytherin, pet snake." Teddy let out a snort. "He could at least be novel."

Despite the seriousness all around them, Harry couldn't help a small chuckle. "Well, not just any Slytherin. Salazar's heir. He is a parcel-mouth, after all. Probably figures it 'understands' him. As if anything could."

"I still think he's a bloody fool." Teddy ran a hand through his messy hair, wondering once again where Hermione, or hell, even Ron, was. And what about Draco? Damn. Damn. Damn."Okay, so we kill the snake and then you…"

"We?" Harry interrupted, surprised. "Teddy, do you realise how close you'll probably have to get to him to do that?" No, that should be him, too. Oh, Merlin, if anything happened to this guy, Hermione would likely kill him.

Teddy rolled his eyes. "Do you realize I'm not in the middle of this bloody war ground for my health?"

Harry paused again, staring at Teddy in surprise. Yeah, Hermione would do what Voldemort didn't. "It's got to die," he said a bit hesitantly. "It's not fair to the thing but...well, he did it to her, not us." Despite Nagini's deeds, Harry had sympathy for the snake. Like him, it was only a puppet in someone else's game. "If you see it...I don't care how, you've got to do it."

Teddy swallowed hard, but nodded. He had promised to help Harry and, by God, he was going to. "Harry? Just so you know…I really respect you."

"Well, if those are your last words to me, I appreciate them, but I'd really rather you live to say 'you know, you really are a stuck up git'." Harry gave a snort and shook his head. "We're going to get through this, you hear me? We're going to do it."

"I never said you weren't a stuck up git," Teddy explained with a wink. Sobering, he nodded. "Right." Taking another deep breath, he added, "Good luck" before stepping out from behind the tree to try and find that blasted snake amidst all the rest of the shite.

The surging pain that seared through his forehead told Harry that his target...and he who was targeting him, was close. Too close. It was time. Moving from behind the tree, but in the opposite direction, Harry took off, ready for what could be the final fight of his life.

Still worried, but also determined, Teddy did his best to avoid actual confrontation with another witch or wizard. Despite his resolve to help and kill that blasted reptile, he really didn't think he had it in him to kill another being. He also knew if it came down to it, he'd have to. His father (or uncle for that matter) could no longer protect him. He had to be an adult. He ducked away from a stinging curse, narrowly missing it by some struck of luck. He also pushed his father away when Angus attempted to get him to go inside. However, the pair didn't have time to argue as a Death Eater zeroed in on both. Angus quickly pushed Teddy out of the way, causing the boy to fall on the ground. Sill, used to obeying, he fled at his father's command. He wasn't sure where he was running to, but when he nearly tripped over what he *thought* was a small garden hose, he knew he had to stop running.

Shite. Salazar. Fuck. Teddy's heart was pounding as he regarded the thing that seemed to be glaring right at him. That was impossible right? Teddy didn't know, but he did know he had to do something. What the hell? Do you use the killing curse on a snake? Does that even work? Unsure, Teddy raised his wand and shouted the first thing that came to mind --- a severing curse. He watched in horror as the poor thing sliced open, blood and only Salazar knew what else pouring out.

Bill was only feet away when he heard a voice that sounded like Teddy's shout the curse meant to sever. Teddy Nott severing a human being? It seemed almost unthinkable, and he fired a stunning spell at the Death Eater he was facing before whirling around to see what had happened.

Rushing over, he joined the younger man, his eyes wide when he saw the mess at his feet. "What in bloody hell is that?" he exclaimed, covering his mouth with his hand as he gaped.

"A horcrux. Was a snake." Teddy looked sadly at the thing that once moved. It might not have been human, but still. Suddenly, he wished he was the heartless Slytherin most imagined he should be.

A Horcrux? That ruddy thing? It was a snake, for Merlin's sake and--oh. Right. Slytherin. Snake. Bugger. Bill rested one hand gently on Teddy's shoulder, then that grip tightened as he yanked him out of the way of a flying green curse. And Bill knew by then that green was never good. "Oi, mate, I'm sorry you had to do that," he murmured, glancing in the direction where the snake lay.

It was what the third time that day that someone else had saved him? Still, Teddy *had* managed to kill something at least. An important something at that. "Me too, " he whispered, glancing at Bill. "Thanks."

"It's going to be okay," Bill said softly, ruffling Teddy's hair lightly. "I just...it's almost over, Teddy." For better or for worse, dammit, it was almost over. And it had to be for better. Damien needed to grow up in a world where his parents weren't forced to do Voldemort's bidding.

Teddy was touched by the gentle movement and his small smile proved that. "Right. Let's just hope…" He trailed off. There was no need to finish that thought.

Michael was hiding.

He wasn't going to lie. He wasn't going to go out a matyr. For Godric's sake he wanted to live, and if hiding meant living then so be it.

He had gotten the summons to come to Hogwarts, the school was under attack. Of course he came. After all, he still knew so many people going there. Demelza. He wasn't just about to abandon them when--maybe--he could make a small difference. Save a person's life. But the instant he had apparated to the school fear had clenched his heart. He suddenly felt sick. He couldn't do this. Michael had been struggling being a part of the Order for some time now, and to be fighting again brought back all the horrible memories of the Ministry. Flashes of Justin's limp body, and those that Michael himself may have killed, he wasn't sure... the exhaustion, the terror, it all came flooding back and suddenly he felt like the fifteen-year-old Michael, who had joined the DA for fun but ended up being almost too afraid to do anything about it.

So now he was up in the astronomy tower, in a closet or something he wasn't quite sure, just that it had a wooden door and it was small. Safe. He could hear the battle raging on below him and that only scared him more. Why was he being such a baby? Why couldn't he just go out there and fight, dammit, like everyone else? Why was he so... weak?

Breathing heavily but quietly, Michael tried to listen. Maybe someone would come running up the stairs in hot pursuit of an innocent student, and he could surprise them? ... Bullocks. He needed to do something. Michael clenched his wand and hoped he would make it out of here alive.

And with that thought he flung the closet door open, realizing he was in one of the empty classrooms near the top of the tower. So he tiptoed over to the clasroom door and peeked out nervously.

The second Seeley had been alerted of what was happening she went flying around the castle trying to find any student she possibly could to get them to safety. She found a group of scared 4th years hiding in a classroom, it didn't take long for her to get them to the Great Hall, but Seeley sure as hell wasn't going to sit around, she couldn't help babysit.

Seeley left that group with some to watch them before dashing around the castle again, the second she was sure she found everyone that could help she'd go straight to the battle, if there was one thing Seeley was, she wasn't a coward, she'd fight with all of her wit, strength, everything. It almost felt like someone else was living inside of her. She was heading up to the tower and she saw one person she didn't think would be hiding.

"Bloody hell Michael what the hell are you doing?" She snapped looking at the face peaking out of the door. "You sure as hell aren't going to sit in here and wait for someone to come attack you, you are going to stop hiding and help me make sure no younger ones are stuck anywhere hiding. And than we are going to go fight." Seeley wasn't going to take no for an answer, and she wasn't going to let a very smart Ravenclaw not help, they all needed as many bright people as they could get, and Michael was smart.... Seeley would drag him by his ear if she had too.

Michael winced at Seeley's harsh words. She was angry. Well, she had every right to be. Why did Seeley have to catch him, though? Why couldn't it have been someone who didn't know him? Seeing Seeley's familiar face made his mortification clear.

"Right, yea, of course," he agreed weakly, stepping out of the classroom and twirling his wand anxiously between his fingers. "So, what do we do? Fight? Or strategize?" He was doing okay at staying calm. He tried to ignore the writing in his stomach and decided that he wouldn't think about dying. Not today. "Okay, okay. I'm fine. Okay," he muttered to no one in particular. Finally he turned to Seeley.

"Sorry Seels. You shouldn't have to deal with me right now--let's go, er, save people?" he suggested.

Seeley looked at him with a half confused look. "We go and do everything we possibly can to make sure all the littler ones are safe, that is what we do! That is what we do!" She said. She sighed slightly though.

Seeley gave him a quick hug. "Don't be sorry, just fight the fears." She said softly before patting his head and grabbing his arm. Seeley selfishly was happy that someone was now with her.

Seeley didn't bother thinking much past that. "We just have to make sure we get everyone who is too young to fight safe. That is the first thing that we have to do, the second is to go and help whoever we can, the battle is raging." She said simply. Seeley didn't want to let any of the hints of fear she was feeling get near her.

The last time there had been a battle this epic, Fleur had been heavily pregnant with Damien. Now, that was not the case. Even though part of her feared that she would not be able to return to her son, Fleur knew that as part of the Order, she must respond to her call to help give her son the world that he deserved.

Fleur had spent two years of her life at Hogwarts, but that still did not give her the same knowledge of the castle as everyone else -- including the enemy -- had. So she tread carefully, making sure at every corner she prepared herself to fire off a hex. If there was one thing Fleur Delacour had been known for other than her beauty, it was the fact that her hexes never missed.

So far, everything had been quiet, but she knew that she was just lucky and that would all change very soon. As she approached the next corner, she heard footsteps from the other side and raised her wand, ready to aim.

"“Don’t fire -- Ne tirer pas,” Angelina offered loudly. She’d been picking up on a little of the French the more and more time she spent around the Weasley family. Fleur was part of it and little Damian was just as much her nephew as Fred’s. It might not be written on paperwork but it felt that way. She’d had to search her head for the words. She was asking Fleur not to fire at her though. Somehow in this time of conflict she imagined hearing them in French might manage to cause quicker translation and less likelihood of being on the wrong side of a hex.

She’d been snuggling at the Joke Shop when she caught wind of what was happening. The movement to apparate and storm in had occurred so quick she couldn’t even remember saying anything remotely like goodbye to Fred but she didn’t want to go and start thinking like that when things were on the upside. This was all going to be over soon though for good. She couldn’t take the time to think of whether she’d be there when it was all said and over. She just had to be there because that was the right thing to do.

It had been her footsteps that Fleur heard. Angelina luckily caught sight of blonde in a reflection in a wall ornament and knew it was best to make who it was known. Honestly she was happier to be bumping into Fleur than a baddie at this point anyways. It never hurt to have someone around to help watch your back.

"Oh, merci," Fleur breathed, lowering her wand gratefully. Even though she had heard words of peace in her native language, she did not want to falter too quickly in fear that it may be a trap. However, the words did offer some comfort and as she turned the corner, she recognized Angelina there, which caused her to relax.

"I am not as familiar with zees place zan you are, I am sure," she addressed her new companion. "So I 'ave been treading cairefully. 'ave you seen anyone around 'ere?" she asked anxiously.

Angelina still remembered the turns of the place. SHe had so many memories of sneaking around with Fred there that she could have found herself around it in her sleep. This was a skill she never imagined she'd need for anything other than regular mischief though. It felt nice to know that she at least had that advantage against some. She was also glad Fleur hadn't just hexed anyways.

"I've seen a few but not many," she told Fleur honestly. "I could find my way around here in the dark. Perhaps we just need to follow the noise --" That made sense to her anyways. The noise would lead them to where they could be of some use.

"I think I hear something toward the Great Hall," she told her. It seemed like a fairly obvious choice for a battle. It was the only place she could think of really. She could hear sounds echoing from everywhere and no where at all. It was sort of a scary thing not knowing what to do.

She wished they had more direction. Where was it going to come from though? They were stuck with each other in this mess. Fleur was a relief to an extent.

That was easy said than done but they'd do what they needed to do. They had to survive. "You can't stop a Weasley Woman and a half," Angelina said firmly behind her never the less. She'd once known all the shortcuts to getting around the school. She felt incredibly rusty these days. She hadn't had to sneak around in some time. The basic concepts were still there but the school had changed a little in her absence.

"Yes that way," Angelina told her moving with her before noticing another old shortcut corridor or rather the portrait that marked it. A rather simple sea scape but a tap on a beach towel brought a nob and an open entrance. "Come on.. shortcut."

Fleur followed Angelina's movement into the narrow passageway. Of course there had been shortcuts at Beauxbatons, some that functioned as areas of privacy when needed, but they were nothing like this.

She was certain that people on the other side would know about these shortcuts as well, so Fleur tried to stay calm and not panic that they would run into someone here, where it was close and dark and harder to get out of the way, and instead focused on the lighter end that awaited them, where the sounds were getting a little more focused.

Lisa didn't know what she was doing. She had been at the Ministry on the day it was attacked, but it seemed so surreal that it was happening at Hogwarts. She came across a few students whom the heads of houses missed and she told them to go to the Great Hall. Lisa didn't stray too far from the Great Hall. For the first time, Dennis realised just how important being a prefect actually was. Not because of taking points or getting to use the special bathroom or riding in the front compartment on the train. No, being a prefect was about responsibility, and he'd never quite understood how much of it they had until that moment.

He also felt like a grownup for the first time. He wasn't cowering in the Great Hall, but he also knew he wasn't strong enough to be out on the front, fighting with some of the older students. So he was doing the only thing he could think to do to help. He was rounding up stragglers, younger students who had missed the call to go to the Great Hall and older students who scoffed at the idea. Looking around each corner, he nearly jumped out of his skin when he saw one of the older students. He wouldn't lie. He was pretty scared. "Oh, it's you," he said a bit breathlessly when he realised it was Lisa, an older Ravenclaw but a nice one from what Dennis knew. "Are you...? I mean, what are you doing?" Most everyone else was in the Great Hall, not just nearby.

2008-03-25 04:35 pm UTC (link)
Katie had been sitting in the stands at the Puddlemere Pitch looking over the grass, she just wanted to get lost in blissful unthinking. It was just a moment where she would have been content not doing anything. It was at that moment that Oliver showed up in some sort of fit going on about something. It took a good minute for him to get out. "Hogwarts is under attack." Katie didn't even wait, she was in Hogsmeade a second later sprinting up to the castle, she was sort of aware of the fact that Oliver wasn't far behind her.

This was the second battle she'd be walking into, the third extremely dangerous thing she'd be doing. Katie knew perfectly well she would be capable of getting out alive, but it was more important to make sure that everything was accomplished first. It was a moment where the young blonde actually felt as though she could help. This wasn't a time for self doubt, this wasn't a day to worry about the very really fact that she'd changed a lot from her close mates from home, this wasn't a time to realize she probably would be going off in a very different direction after the world calmed down.. This was a moment for making sure the world had a chance for peace. This was a chance to fight for what was right, to fight for those she cared about, to fight for the kids that should be able to grow up without the fear she and someone others did. This was a time to put personal thoughts aside and fight. There wasn't room for anything in her head.

Katie ran the edge of the forrest, dodging whatever she could before she saw a clear path towards the Castle. She wasn't sure where she should go, where she should fight, but she was sure as hell wasn't going to stop.

Hermione much preferred spell theory to actual fighting in many cases, except right at that very moment, when she had found herself somehow ...alone. Separate from her fighting comrades, most of whom were probably in the Castle proper. She tried not to think of Teddy or Harry or Ron, knowing that having been chased to the entryway here was an opportunity to gather intelligence as well as catch her breath. It was then that she saw Katie approaching up the path, recognizing her form a few seconds ahead of her face. "Katie!"

Hurry up, she willed Katie. The faster the other girl arrived, the faster they both could get back inside and to what needed doing. And to those - she couldn't help but think - that needed her.

That was the last person she thought she'd see, but she looked alone, and that was never a good thing. Katie could see the girls urgency, Katie knew that look she'd seen it in a number of people she knew over the years.

Lucky for both of them probably Katie was a really quick running, she put all of her energy into running at that moment, and it didn't take more than perhaps 45 seconds for her to catch up to Hermione... She wasn't too far away either though. She didn't speak, but it was pretty clear her eyes were asking what the hell happened, and what if any plan was going on.

Draco ought not to have been out on that field at all; doubtless someone would point out something about targets and blah blah blah, but he didn't care. Like Harry, he had come to a point where he realised he couldn't not be there, though the Slytherin's motivations were, as always, multifaceted.

He tried to be as impassive to emotion as he possibly could, firing off precisely-aimed hexes and counter-jinxes wherever he could, dodging about the field in search of Teddy. He'd gotten word somewhat later than the others, as he'd been with his father. Lucius had gripped his arm in a rare show of emotion, and a look passed between father and son that had said as much as either of them possibly could. Then Draco had left, only to arrive smack dab in the middle of the battle.

He cursed fluently and rolled to his right, bumping into the nearest human form as he struggled to avoid being hit.

Charlie too had arrived later than the others, mostly because he was in another country, busy putting a few eager people on their way to become dragon keepers through hell. When he learned what was going down in good old England, it didn't take him very long to gather the group of people who agreed to help out when the time came. One of them quickly organised a portkey and there they were. Charlie separated from the group from early on, determined to find his family and mates.

He had feared something like this would happen. That there would be another battle. Though the last one had bruised his ego quite a bit, leaving him with certain doubts in his abilities, Charlie wouldn't have stayed behind in a million years. Not when everyone he loved was there.

Despite his bum leg (which had gotten better during the last few months, to be quite honest), Charlie still managed to duck a couple of curses and fire some hexes right back, giving him some assurance he desperately needed. He just blocked another spell when someone bumped into him. Still having good reflexes, Charlie quickly turned around and shoved his wand under that someone's throat in case it was a foe rather than a friend.

When he realised it was Draco, he relaxed a bit, lowering his wand and giving a deep sigh of relief: "Oh man. You all right there?"

The words "I would have been had you not nearly skewered me just now" were somewhat less formed than Draco would have thought they'd be. He regarded Charlie with a wary but somewhat relieved expression and started to answer that he was fine when the snappish - and unwisely loud - tone of his aunt's voice cut them both off.

And then again, in the fray, many other voices might have provided hers with cover. He rolled his eyes, annoyed that she would think to scold him here, now, not only in front of a bloody Weasley but also in the middle of a battle. "I am fighting, just like everyone else," he answered, his tone calm.

It seemed like ages since seeing Colin in the Great Hall. The battle was in full swing and Ginny found herself standing in the middle of everything. It was only by luck and chance that she was still standing. She was sure that if it wasn't for that she would be dead in that moment. Curses were flying every which way and it was all Ginny could do to stay on her feet, her wand in her hand, and her wits still about her.

She hurled a hex at a masked Death Eater who was advancing on a younger student, forcing the larger figure to stagger about with large bat-sized bogeies flapping about the area of his face. Ginny ran over to the terrified student and told her to run back to the Great Hall and stay there until it was safe. The blonde girl gave a tearful nod and took off running towards a side entrance to the Great Hall.

It wasn't long before Ginny was ducking and dodging more curses and looking frantically around for someone she knew or recognized.

To say this was not Bill's best day ever was a bit of an understatement. His wife was out fighting as if she were wearing a suit of armor, he'd caught almost every single family member he had on the front, and even Teddy, who he'd taught and groomed so carefully in hopes that he'd never had to do this, was fighting and going as far as killing Voldemort's own pet snake.

Oh, Merlin, they were getting far too close to the castle. Bill thought of the huge group of students gathered inside and he felt his stomach drop. He went running, no questions asked, towards the entrance, his heart in his throat. The fear only intensified when he noticed the shock of red hair facing the Death Eater, and he sped up in time to see his sister sending a student further into the castle.

"Ginny," he gasped, wondering how and when he'd gotten so out of shape. "Bloody hell, you shouldn't even be out here, get back in the Great Hall already!" As morbid as it sounded, he couldn't help wanting to know that no matter what happened, there'd be at least one member of his family left to take care of Damien, should anything happen.

"Go ahead and call Mum." She said with a bit of a bite in her tone. "I'm of age and if I want to fight than no one can tell me to go off and be a coward while everyone else is out here doing all they can." Her bright brown eyes had a fire of determination in them that refused to be squashed.

"Coward?" Bill snapped back angrily, keeping his eyes peeled to his surroundings. As she spoke, though, he focused his gaze on her, even if only momentarily. "Coward? Saving your own life doesn't count as being a coward, not any longer. You're more a target than most out here and you damn well know it!" It was the reason Harry had broken up with her, after all, wasn't it? At least, the reason Bill remembered.

"For Godric's sake, if you won't do it for me or for Mum, at least get your arse inside for Harry. Quit being foolish, you'll do none of us any good dead." In truth, Bill was just scared. He knew his sister would be a better fighter than most. She'd been trained by Harry himself, after all, with a good dose of Weasley fire thrown in. But that didn't mean he could stand by and let her face the same hexes the rest of them were.

We need to because Damien needs a world to grow up in that doesn't involve fear. Felicity needs to know that she's safe no matter what!" Her face was beginning to match her hair. She took a moment to give a fast look around. "I'm not going to just sit idly while the rest of you ensure that world for them. I can't. I'll go mental."

Bill brought up Harry and her eyes narrowed. "Don't you get it, Bill?" She asked her voice dropping from the yell she'd worked up to. "I need to fight because he's out there and I can't just...I can't sit in the Great Hall knowing that he could..." She broke off for a second, looking down at her feet for a brief moment before meeting her brother's eyes. "Bill, if he...if any of you...and there was something I could've done to stop it...No. You're not getting me to go and sit in time-out." She was putting her foot down. Oi, he shouldn't leave her. He ought to keep her right by his side. If she was determined to fight, he ought to make her fight where he could--

But Bill stopped himself. He'd just told her not to let anyone make her do anything. Without his consent, his baby sister had gone and become a woman. A woman in love with The Chosen One. A woman with a backbone and a mind of her own, and a heart so big he'd hate to watch it break. A woman who could hold her own against Voldemort's pack.

Briefly, because Merlin knew their time was limited and there was always a chance at a surprise Death Eater, Bill pulled her in for a quick hug. "I will. Stay close to the castle.
