WHO: Poppy Runcorn and Marcus Flint
WHAT: Poppy's tending bar at the Leaky. Marcus decides to harass her. Nothing new.
WHERE: The Leaky
WHEN: Saturday Evening; April 2
RATING: TBD
STATUS: Incomplete

Poppy had only been at work an hour. It was still early in the evening, so the patrons were minimal and Poppy was the only one tending the bar at the moment. She was wiping some spills off the counter since there was no one who seemed to need a drink. She wasn't exactly pleased that she had to work as a bartender, but after being fired from her last job? Well, she needed to pay rent and she needed to eat, so she didn't have much of a choice. There was a reason she wore low cut tops to work. She got better tips and better tips meant not having to worry about paying rent on time.

She had her back to the bar and was checking some things at the register. One of the bottles of vodka was almost gone so she went over to the cabinet and crouched down to grab a new one. She switched out the tops then, on a whim, mixed her self a quick drink. Well, mixed herself a strong shot, and drank it quickly. She hoped no one had seen her do that. She felt like her boss probably wouldn't approve.

Marcus was bored. He'd been sitting around his place, doing absolutely nothing, when he entertained the idea of reading a book. That was the moment he realized the true extent of his boredom and decided he needed to go find something to do. He'd already slept in, showered, worked out, showered again, and caught up on what little paperwork he had to do for the team. He thought about owling Clint to go get drinks, but realized the he wasn't only bored, but he was horny as well. So instead, he decided to head out by himself for the evening.

It usually didn't take long to find a girl that was willing to sleep with him, or at least blow him, but on the off chance that it did, he usually ran into people he knew pretty much everywhere. And if it ended up being a really off night for him, he'd just owl Clint anyway. He headed to the Leaky, not much in the mood for elsewhere at the moment. The Leaky was comfortable and familiar and was full of familiar faces. Of course, he also got pestered a lot by fans there, but he actually loved the attention. Especially if it came from dumb-as-bricks female fans.

He headed inside and walked straight to the bar, smirking a bit when he saw Paula or Pansy or whatever the fuck that red-headed bartender's name was. Honestly, the few interactions he'd had with her he hadn't exactly enjoyed. She was annoying as all fuck. But she was hot, and that made her tolerable. He leaned against the bar and gave her a slightly cocky smirk as she took her shot. "Did you make one of those for me too, love?"

She turned when someone addressed her, the remainder of the first shot already in another shot glass. Poppy had been ready to be polite and offer it to the patron, free of charge. But then she saw who it was and she frowned deeply. Flint. He was a prat who never ceased to hit on her every time he came in while she was working. He didn't seem to understand the concept of the word no. He was a prat and Poppy really disliked him but she couldn't deny that he was gorgeous. Still, that didn't negate her dislike of him.

Poppy downed the second shot quickly. "Nope. Didn't have any extra leftover." Her voice was cold. "So, what do you want?" She leaned back against the counter and waited for his order. The sooner she could get him his drink, the sooner she could ignore him.

Really, the almost palpable hatred this woman had for him was amusing as fuck. And it wasn't nearly enough of a deterrent from constantly hitting on her. In fact, it was girls like this, the hateful hard-to-get ones, that usually ended up being the best in bed. And so, he'd continue to harass the ever loving hell out of her until she finally gave in and he got what he wanted. Really and truly, way deep down, Marcus Flint was a romantic.

"Other than you bent over the bar? I'll take a whiskey," he said as he took a brief moment to glance around the bar. It was still early so not too many people were out just yet. There certainly wasn't anyone attractive to waste his time with so he figured he'd stay where he was and waste his time on the hot bartender instead. He took a seat as he waited for her to pour his drink, a slightly cocky smile on his face. He loved watching hot women serve him.

"Me bent over the bar?" She walked forward a few steps and leaned on the bar, letting Marcus get a good look at how low-cut her shirt was. "Like this?" she asked innocently. "Because that's never going to happen," she rolled her eyes and turned around so she could grab what she needed to make his drink.

He really was infuriating. He was cocky and arrogant and Poppy really didn't like when blokes said shite like that while she was working. She finished pouring his drink and set it down in front of him. "There. Anything else?"

And when Poppy leaned over, he did indeed look. After all, women didn't wear tops like that unless they wanted people to look. And Marcus was more than happy to oblige. Especially if she was going to be a flirty little tease like she currently was. He let out a small laugh when she said it was never going to happen. "Oh, it will. And you'll love every second of it," he responded casually.

When she handed him the drink, he gave her a small smile before picking it up and taking a sip out of it. "Nope. I'm all set," he said, though he didn't moved to get up. He was perfectly content to just sit there and watch her work. After all, bartenders bent over a lot. And watching that was certainly a good way to spend his time while he waited for someone more exciting to show up. Maybe he would owl Clint after all. Then they could both enjoy the view.

"Oh really?" She crossed her arms over her chest and looked at him questioningly. "Why are you so sure that it will happen? I'm curious to see just how you manage to rationalize your delusions." Because really, he was very attractive but Poppy didn't think she could ever tolerate him long enough to actually manage to shag him so his attractiveness was moot.

When he said he was set, she went off to go take care of the orders the waitress had brought over. Then she refilled the drink for a bloke at the other end of the bar. He was older and one of her regulars. Poppy always got good tips from him and he never hit on her. He just seemed to enjoy chatting with her. After that she headed back over to where Marcus was, surprised he was still sitting there.

"You're still here?" She asked, a slight tinge of annoyance in her voice.

Marcus just raised an amused brow when she she asked how he rationalize his delusions. Really, the answer to that was that Marcus always got what he wanted eventually. In nearly every situation, perseverance paid off. Of course, his good looks, among other physical aspects of his, worked wonders too. "Just a feeling," he finally answered with a shrug. When she walked away, he quickly finished his drink before scanning the room again. He was pretty sure he saw Pucey and Bundy together, and while he liked both of his teammates, he spent all bloody week with them. Maybe he'd go say hi later when he'd given up on the bartender for the day.

He was amused at her annoyed tone when she came back. "Of course. I need another one," he said as he slid his empty glass towards her. "You know, I can tell you try to hide it, but I can't help but feel you have a slight dislike for me," he started. Okay, so he knew she fucking hated him. But still. He was good at playing the dense card. "So perhaps we've gotten off on the wrong foot. Let me buy you a drink or something. It's not that busy in here yet and I'm sure I can give you much more stimulating conversation than that bloke over there," he said as he nodded towards the regular she'd just been with. "You're stuck here with me anyway. Might as well make the best of it."

Not that Marcus wanted to have any conversation with her. Hell, he didn't even want to be that nice. But someday he was going to wear her down enough to get what he wanted and if his usual cockiness wasn't working, then he'd try a new approach for as long as he could stomach being nice to her. Which probably wasn't long, Once, however, he'd practically alluded to marriage just to get a girl in bed, so niceness he could handle for a bit. It was all for a greater cause, really

Poppy sighed and grabbed his glass, quickly refilling it. She handed it back to him. "Really? And here I was thinking that I was hiding my distaste for you! I'm sorry, I'll try to tone it done." Poppy couldn't help that she sounded so bitchy. He just grated on her nerves.

"I'm working right now. I'm not really supposed to let people buy me drinks," she pointed out. Which wasn't a good excuse since he'd already seen her drinking on the job earlier. She eyed him a bit suspiciously. He was being nice to her. That was new. "Fine. Let's see if you are more interesting to talk to." She crossed her arms over her chest and leaned back against the counter, looking at him expectantly.

Marcus raised an eyebrow when the bartender said she wasn't supposed to let people buy her drinks. "Right. Except for those two shots you took when I walked in, right? I'm sure one more drink won't get you in trouble. Especially if it's at a customer's request." Especially considering not only how well known Marcus was, but also the amount of money he spent in this particular establishment on a weekly basis.

He was surprised when she agreed to the conversation thing. He'd kind of been hoping she wouldn't go for it so he could go back to be a sexist dick. But he could give this a shot. He waited for her to start a conversation, but after a few moments, realized that she was looking at him expectantly. "Oh, right," he said, realizing she wanted him to start this. Fuck. He didn't know what the hell to talk about. "Had any good shags lately?" he asked, though quickly realized that probably wasn't the best attempt. "What do you do for fun? You know, when you're not loving all of your customers here at the Leaky."

Poppy rolled her eyes. "Fine. You can buy me a drink. But I'm picking what it is and I'll just put it on your tab." She made herself another shot, this time it was firewhiskey. She held it up and said 'Cheers' before drinking it. "Thanks for the drink," she said, her voice somewhat nicer than usual.

She raised her eyebrow when he asked about shags. Really? That was his idea of starting out a conversation? She almost walked away from him because that was not her idea of a good conversation starter. But then he seemed to realize he was an idiot, and asked her something else. "For fun? I go out with friends, I read, nothing too exciting. What about you?" She was trying to give him a little bit of a chance to prove he wasn't a complete and utter asshole.

Marcus gave a shrug. He'd intended for her to pour herself whatever she wanted so that worked out. He was a bit surprised by her choice though. He'd expected something sweet and girly and fruity and easy to drink. Or Tequila. Girls always seemed to have a thing for Tequila which honestly, he would just never understand.

"What do you do with your friends? Go out to bars? I'd imagine it would get old after working here all day. Actually...." he said, rethinking what he'd said. "Nevermind. Bars never get old," he said with a laugh as he took a drink from his glass. "What kind of books do you read?" he asked, at least attempting to fake an interest in her life. She probably read really boring shit. Actually....all books were really boring so she definitely read really boring shit. He was a bit surprised she asked what he did for fun though. She didn't seem the type to fake interest, but he somehow doubted she really cared. "This is the most fun I get to have. It's this and work. And I figured you wouldn't believe me if I said I read so...."

Poppy wasn't the type of girl who liked sweet and fruity drinks. She liked whiskey. And vodka. And on occasion, tequila. But she'd had a bad encounter with the last one a few months ago and she still wrinkled her nose at the scent when she had to pour it for her job.

"We have naked pillow fights and lesbian orgies," she told him, her face completely serious. Poppy waited a moment then, rolling her eyes, she continued. "Of course we go out to bars. And actually, it doesn't get old after working here all day. We try to go to bars with music and dancing. Bars that are a little more fun than this bar." She couldn't help but laugh a bit at his rethinking of his comment. "See, bars never get old."

"You're correct in assuming I wouldn't believe you if you said you read," she smiled a little. Okay, so maybe he wasn't entirely bad to talk to, at least when he wasn't being an ass. "On that note? We both know you don't give a shite about what kind of books I read so let's just skip that part and save both of us the trouble, yeah?" Poppy wasn't an idiot. Someone who didn't read usually didn't want to talk about books. "Drinking is the most fun you get to have? Or harassing bartenders? I'm not clear on what you mean by 'this," she said with a smirk.

"Naked pillow fights and lesbian orgies sounds way more exciting than bars and reading. Just, you know, in case you ever want a change of pace or something," he said with a small smirk as he took a drink out of his glass. Not that he really thought women did that....well, okay. So some did. But usually they only did it to get male attention and this bartender...seriously, what was her name again? Well at any rate, she didn't seem the type. She got enough male attention by standing there so why waste effort?

He had to laugh when she said she knew he didn't give a shit about what books he read. She was so right and he appreciated her skipping over it. He wanted to get on her goodside for a night, not be put to sleep by stories about books. Of course, if listening to her talk abut books for hours was what it took to get to fool around with her, he'd be more than willing to sit through it. "Drinking and harassing bartenders. Though, since you've come along, I just don't enjoy the other bartenders quite as much I used to. So now for fun I drink and harass you," he said with a shrug.

"Well, I never said those naked pillow fights don't happen," she said nonchalantly. Another patron came up to the bar and ordered two pints. Poppy smiled at the bloke, noticing that his eyes kept drifting downward. She flirted with him a bit as she poured the pints. She handed them to him and he paid, leaving a nice tip for her in the process.

Poppy turned her attention back to Flint. He was proving more entertaining than expected. "Oh really? Just don't enjoy the other bartenders as much as you used to? Somehow I really doubt that," she told him with a laugh. "I'm not sure I like being your personal entertainment when you come drinking here." She was teasing him a bit.

Marcus raised an eyebrow. Bullshit those things happened but hey, he didn't mind having the mental image of her participating in a naked pillow fight. It gave him something to entertain himself with while she flirted with the new patron. Of course, his version of her naked pillow fight basically ended in an orgy with other, equally as attractive and busy girls. In fact, the bartender...Paula? Priscilla? came back over to him almost too soon.

"You're like a bloody parrot. You repeat everything I say only in question form," he pointed out. It was kind of annoying to be honest. He knew what he'd said so why the repeat? Well, he supposed it really wasn't that big of a deal. At least she hadn't spilled anything on him yet. Baby steps or some shite. "Well, if you'd rather, I could be your personal entertainment instead. It's much more fun, I assure you," he said before taking another drink from his whiskey.

Poppy knew exactly what she was doing when she parroted his words. He might be playing nice right now, but he was an asshole most of the time and Poppy didn't exactly trust that his new found niceness would last. In repeating his own words back at him in question form, she insured that the conversation was almost entirely one sided. She wasn't offering up any more information than he was. Annoying to him, sure. Amusing for her? Hell yes.

"Is there a problem with me repeating everything you say in question form?" she asked, as though she didn't know that it probably was annoying him. "My personal entertainment? I don't know. I'm working right now. Not sure if you can really entertain me a whole lot." She shrugged nonchalantly.
