Who: Kyra Bundy and Charlie Weasley
When: Saturday, December 10th
Where: Diagon Alley
What: Running into each other
Rating: Low
Status: In progress

Carrying two heavy bags, Kyra attempted to weave her way through the crowds in Diagon. It was packed that morning, filled with people doing Christmas shopping and their normal Saturday errands. Kyra didn't have many people to buy things for, but she wanted to make sure that her few friends had lovely gifts.

Christmas wasn't going to be easy this year. It was her first Christmas without AJ and even though they were awful together Kyra missed having someone in her life. Se missed being a part of a couple and having someone next to her every night. Funny that her mind should drift to Charlie, but Kyra quickly dismissed those thoughts. A drink, dance and a few conversations did not mean anything and he very clearly stated that he wasn't looking for a relationship of any kind. It was best to forget about him all together.

Kyra ducked into a stationary store to pick up a few new quills. If she was going to be managing Penny's campaign she would surely need them.

Reluctantly, Charlie was pushing his way down the streets of Diagon. He loved being part of a large family, except for whe it came down to buying them all presents. He rarely knew what to get hem, and it had been a strange year. He knew what to get Bill, he'd never been a problem (and he was even being a good brother by not including a Remember-all). He'd saw something for Ron and Ginny as he walked the streets, and knew that the Stationary store would hold what he needed for Percy who was arguably his hardest brother to buy for.

It took him only a moment to realize that the familiar blond head in front of him was Kyra. It was hrd to say if he should approach her. On one hand, he thought they got on pretty well, on the other, she seemed to hate his guts. Still, he came up behind her.

"Those bags look heavy, let me carry them for you." See, Charlie Weasley could be a decent guy sometimes.

"Charlie! Hi!" Kyra was surprised to see him there. More than that she was surprised that he even approached her. "Um, thank you?" She allowed Charlie to take her bags, still not really sure what she was supposed to think of this man. He tried so hard to make a move the first time they meant and then it seemed like he wanted nothing to do with her.

Kyra reached up and tucked a blonde curl behind her ear, suddenly wishing that she'd spent more time getting ready that morning. "How've you been?"

She didn't slap him away, so that was a good sign. As he took her bags from her, placed a peck on her cheek as if in greeting, hoisting all of her bags into his right hand.

"I'm doing fine, just trying to do som Christmas shopping." He took time then to finally crane his head to skim the store. "I'm in over my head here, I think. I have no idea what to buy my egg head brother." Charlie chuckled a little.

Kyra's cheek reddened where Charlie kissed it. He was charming, she'd give him that. "Percy?" Of course she knew who he was. Her best friend in the world had dated him in Hogwarts. "There's a new book out on International Politics, but I suspect he already has it. I know I bought a copy the day it came out." Worrying her lip between her teeth, Kyra tried to think of a gift that would suit someone like Percy.

"Maybe some new quills? Or a journal? I haven't seen him on the journals yet."

“He really is my only brother who fits that description.” He nodded with a grin when she guessed about him. He scratched the back of his neck a little bit, staring at the books lining the wall. He really tried to focus on her words, but he was distracted by the sound of her voice and the fact that he had a hard time caring about the subject matter (it really wasn’t anything personal). “I didn’t even know that people read that sort of thing for fun.” He couldn’t help but smirk at her.

“A journal might be nice.” He said slightly uncertain. “The problem with all of these things is… well, the just feel generic. They don’t… they don’t feel like personal enough gifts. He shrugged.”

"People read for more reasons than entertainment," Kyra pointed out. "But if you want a personal gift, I doubt you're going to find it in a stationary shop." Kyra shifted her weight on her feet, feeling a bit awkward about their conversation. "I could always take my bags back and you could try another shop?"

Yes, she was trying to get away from him. Kyra didn't know what it was about Charlie, but talking to him made her feel strange. Like if she spent too much time in his presence he'd find some way to get under her skin and stay there. "I don't want to keep you from your shopping."

“Not me.” He said with a shrug. It was pretty much a lie, but Kyra didn’t really need to know that. The truth was that Charlie did read quite a bit, mostly dragon related things, but it wasn’t really something Charlie talked about, almost like it was something he didn’t want anyone to know. “You’re right. I probably wont find a whole lot in here, but I was hoping that it would at least help me figure out something, yanno like give me ideas.”

He tilted his head at her, smirking just a little bit. “I’m in no hurry, beautiful. Why don’t we grab a bit to eat?”

Her first reaction was to tell him no, but Kyra found herself agreeing. "Sure," she said and smiled a little. "I suppose I could do that, but just as friends." He wasn't interested in dating anyone and she was going to make sure he knew that she wasn't either. Even if she really was. Merlin, this man made her head spin.

Kyra quickly purchased her new quills and tucked them into her purse before turning back to Charlie and giving him a small smile. He was certainly handsome. Perhaps if he wasn't she wouldn't think about him so much.

“As friends, of course.” Charlie said with a nod. It wasn’t that he’d only wanted to be friends with the girl, but that was clearly something she wanted for the time being, and he wasn’t going to argue with her about it. Not now, anyway.

Shifting all of her bags into one of his hands, he casually draped his arm over her shoulder as they walked. “Where is it that you’d like to eat, Kyra?”

She wasn't all that hungry, really, but Kyra wasn't going to turn down the chance to spend a bit more time with Charlie. "Actually, I know a brilliant place if you're up to leaving Diagon. The greasiest chips you've ever had in your life, but I swear you'll see God when you taste them. I always go on Sundays, right after church." Kyra steered them towards the exit, intent on getting away from Diagon as quickly as possible. She didn't really enjoy being around this many people, especially witches and wizards who could turn against her at any moment for no reason at all.
