Ministry Annouces Marriage Laws
By Eleanor Bledsoe, G.H.B.I.C.M.
With the Wizenagamot session coming to a close before the Christmas holidays, a stunning new law was brought to the table. Daniella Edgecomb proposed a shocking law, that if passed, would go into effect immediately.

The Marriage Law would make it illegal for Purebloods to marry Purebloods. This law would invalidate all Pureblood marriages that have taken place in 2002. Sources say that this law is favored by most members of the Wizenagamot.

"If we limit the Pureblood marriages, we limit the Purebloods. There will no longer be a class distinction and it will provide society with a better change of integrating without Prejudice," Daniella Edgecomb said.

"The very nature of this law is prejudice," Arcuturus Warrington, II said. "This law is essentially limiting who people are allowed to fall in love with." Mr. Warrington had no comment to make when it was brought up that his son, Clinton Warrington, was contracted into an arranged marriage to Daphne Greengrass, Pureblood.
"This is exactly what we're working to eliminate. Marriage contracts? In 2002? This isn't the middle ages and we're not marrying off our children for land. It's absurd," said Ms. Edgecomb.

Contracted marriages between Purebloods have been taking place since the early days. It's not uncommon, even today, to see two notable Pureblood families unite their offspring in loveless union. Pure bloodlines and wealth are usually the factors. Malfoy, Flint, Warrington, Parkinson, Davis and many more have had contractual marriages.

Mr. Warrington, III could not be reached for comment. However the recent marriage of Mr. Warrinton, II to Ms. Daphne Greengrass-Warrington would be invalid if the law was to pass. This would also negate the recent elopement of Bill Weasley to Lavender Brown Weasley.

Petitions against the law have already begun circulating. The Ministry will convene for another month before any resolution is made. While they expect the law to pass, it will not table until next session.

Werewolf Law Tabled

The Werewolf Laws have been tabled for another two weeks. Anti-werewolf groups have sprung up all over the city to protest the attack of an anonymous victim. The investigation of Lavender Brown-Weasley continues as threats made are brought into account.

The United Kingdom Wizarding community seems to be split in their opinions regarding the laws. "They're people too!" exclaimed a protestor. "They deserve the same as us! It's a disease! They didn't choose this!"

While some make a compelling argument, the rights and restrictions of Vampires has been brought to the board. If Vampirism isn't a disease, than can Lycanthropy be considered one?

Current Happenings

Rumors are running rampant over teh supposed break-up of power Quidditch couple Katie Bell and Marcus Flint! We've learned, from someone close to Mr. Flint, that he and Ms. Bell called it quits and that he's already moved on! A budding romance seems to be blossoming between Mr. Flint and his sister-in-law, Persephone Flint. The two were supposedly lovers before her marriage to one of Flint's deceased brothers. Of course, we all know Marcus Flint loves to play the field. We'll see how long this one lasts.

Fleur Delacour was seen at the Halloween gala and was her outfit turning heads. On the arm of an elderly and distinguished wizard, one can only assume that Ms. Delacour was attempting to outdo the drab and dull new Mrs. Weasley. Well, Ms. Delacour was breathtaking, if a bit trashy. However, most men couldn't keep their eyes off her. This included last week's man of the hour, Roger Davies.

Speaking of Roger Davies, he finally brought his girlfriend to an event while openly ogling Ms. Delacour. Not that we'd blame him. When your girlfriend runs about in Quidditch clothes, well, it's no wonder his eyes are roaming. Katie Bell and Mandy Brocklehurst ought to take notes from Fleur Delacour. She clearly knows how to entice a man.

Lovely Astoria Greengrass was seen with Falcons Chaser, Adrian Pucey. However, it looks like Mr. Pucey might have a touch of competition. Marcus Flint seemed to be staking his claim over the journals before his poor, defiled (now) ex-girlfriend had even been home. This little vixen had better watch out. We know the boys of Falmouth love to share but somehow, it doesn't seem at all Miss Greengrass's style.

That’s all for this week. Keep it classy, loves!
