Minister of Magic Resigns
By Eleanor Bledsoe, G.H.B.I.C.M.
In a shocking turn of events this week, Kingsley Shacklebolt, Minister of Magic has resigned from the Wizarding government, giving up his seat on the Wizenagamot and turning in his Order of Merlin, 2nd class.

"I can no longer stand by while the Wizenagamot passes laws that are not only unfair to the witches and wizards of our world but are unethical and a hindrance in promoting a unified world." Mr. Shacklebolt's resignation comes during a most inopportune time. The Wizenagamot is said to have a highly secretive but very much talked about law in the works.

The new law, under the Blood Equality act, will be announced next week.

"The Wizenagamot is comprised of nothing but a load of outdated and ridiculously ancient witches and wizards who need to give up their seats," said an outraged, anonymous citizen when

asked about the direction the laws were heading. "The Blood Equality act is anything but equality. Restrictions made because of blood is the exact opposite of equality!" The Wizenagmot, however, does have some supporters. "What they're doing is good! We can't have another mess of business like with He-who-must-not-be-named! They're trying to protect those of us who don't have power in the government!"

On the wake of the Minister's resignation, Wizards Against Purity (W.A.P) have thrown their support behind up and coming political powerhouse, Desdemona Edevane, a muggle-born witch from Ottery St. Catchpole. Edevane was a supporter of the rigid, Delores Umbridge in education reform.

It seems as though both sides of this hot issue have equal representation and support. With the deaths of such prominent pureblood names as Flint and Malfoy, it looks as though the ministry is, indeed, taking action and sides.

Wizards Against Purity Issue Statement

The Wizards Against Purity have issued a statement to all Pureblood women. "With the disappearance of Katie Bell, Ginevra Weasley and Oliver Wood from our midst, we would like to take this moment to issue a warning to all Pureblood women and men. We will continue to do the right by society and will stop at nothing to make sure that our world is less than pure."

This comes after a source from St. Mungo's has informed the Prophet that Quidditch Captain Katie Bell was released and sent home.

The Ministry has issued a pamphlet about the safety of traveling in numbers and pairs and hopes that all purebloods will take the recommended action.

Current Happenings

Falmouth's notorious Captain and supposedly reformed lothario has been seen with bookshop owner Penny Clearwater on more than one occasion. It seems as though the two were caught snogging just outside of Falmouth's offices while Flint's own girlfriend, Puddlemere Captain Katie Bell, has been laid up in the hospital after reportedly being assaulted. Now Mr. Flint, this isn't at all the behavior we expected of you! Flint's increased interest in Clearwater has us wondering if Flint is staying with Bell only out of pity.

Roger Davies, Captain of the mediocre Quidditch team, Pride of Portree, is known for his public affairs. However, we didn't quite expect to see him buying diamonds for the lovely Fleur Delacour quite so soon. The two have been spotted nearly every day this week outside of a Yoga class, and were recently seen at the muggle jewelry designer, Tiffany & Co., where Davies purchased a rather expensive diamond bracelet for his new amie. Ms. Delacour was happy to thank Mr. Davies with a very public- and very French, kiss.

Society tart Lavender Brown married Bill Weasley this week in what we can only suspect is a desperate ploy for attention. The two have been involved in some very public displays of affection the past few weeks and the idea that love played any part of this interesting union has everyone scoffing. The happy union seems to have caused some problems between besties, Brown and Parvati Patil. One can only assume that Ms. Patil had designs on Mr. Weasley herself.

Handsome Healer and relatively new bachelor, Augustus Pye, was seen entering the house of one Eloise Midgen. Midgen, an apparent radio personality and no one of note, is said to be a good friend, however, the ruffled hair and recently divorced status of Healer Pye has us wondering just how deep this boring desk jockey has her claws in? He was seen with Healer Angelina Johnson just days before. Is this dashing Healer juggling two women at once? Perhaps that was the reason his marriage ended with his wife!

That’s all for this week. Keep it classy, loves!
