WHO: Theodore Nott and Open
WHERE: Hogs Head
WHEN: Sunday, October 17th
WHAT: Firewhiskey and billards, while avoiding paperwork on his desk.
RATING: TBD.
STATUS: In progress.

There was something soothing about the sound of a cue ball hitting another ball, and whoosh sound the struck ball made as it fell into the inky darkness of the waiting pocket. Theodore Nott sipped his whiskey and pondered the table in front of him. He had a table in his house. Well...he had more tan one really. But there was paperwork at home. There were portraits of family members whom he had buried - like Marcus has buried his yesterday... So today he was out among people, spending the day lost in billards and whiskey.

For once the Nott heir wasn't intending to get soused out of his mind. All he wanted was to loosen up that kink in his shoulders and to have a day where people didn't look at him sideways. Here in the Hogs Head, people were less likely to do the latter. He was sure the same couldn't be said for several other of his frequented locations for a day like this one. Pub food, whiskey and billiards. He shook his head and set down the glass, bending over to take another shot.

Thud. Click. Whoosh.

Soothing.

Astoria shut her journal and sighed. She had just agreed to go to the Hog's Head with Theodore Nott which was something she usually didn't do. It wasn't that she was too stuck up to go to a place like that, she just wasn't the type to meet a guy for drinks. Usually Astoria was perfectly happy living in her own little bubble of a world. Today though, Astoria had switched things up a bit. She had been alone the entire day and it was looking like she wouldn't have company for quite some time.

While living with Clint and Daphne hadn't been bad and it had given her plenty of reasons to catch up with them, she was ready to get out. She was used to her own house, with her own space. Of course, she understood that living with them really would be the best option right now because she certainly didn't want to end up like Patricia Stimpson. The poor girl. While Astoria hadn't known her very well, it was still so sad and she couldn't imagine why somebody would do something like that to another person.

Shaking those terrible thoughts from her mind, Astoria threw on a cardigan and grabbed her purse, exiting the flat before apparating to Hogsmeade. It was a nice day for October and she was happy to be getting some fresh air, even if it was just for the short walk to the Hog's Head. Stepping inside the dark pub, she spotted Theodore right away bending over and taking a shot. She was never very good at pool, she was too clumsy or something. Walking over to him, she began to smile, "Theo Nott. I must say it's been a long time."

Finishing his shot, Theo stood and grinned at her, "Ahh, Astoria it has been far too long." He leaned his cue stick against the table and shook his head, "I have to admit I wasn't sure if you would show up or not. I am glad you did."

He motioned to the bartender, "And what is the lady's choice for the afternoon? Or at least to start off the afternoon?" He moved to offer to take her sweater, having picked the table by a nice fireplace...it was a nice cozy little corner. His dark eyes twinkled at her, "Unless you want me to choose for you."

Usually Astoria didn't go to places like the Hog's Head, but she had to admit that it was kind of nice being somewhere where she didn't know everyone. People were always expecting so much of her, it was nice to let loose every once and a while. She smiled at Theo, taking a step closer to him "You'd be surprised how boring it can get staying at your sisters house by yourself all day."

She let Theo help her get out of her sweater. It was actually a lot more warm in there than she would have expected. Thinking for a moment, she looked up at Theo. "You choose. Give me something easy, it's early." Astoria didn't drink much and she was so tiny that it didn't take much for her to get drunk and she certainly didn't want to make a fool of herself tonight.

Glancing over at the pool table, Astoria picked up Theo's stick and examined it. "I never was particularly good at pool. I don't get how to hold the stick, even."

Theo ordered her a glass of wine and then turned back to her, taking in the sight of her holding the cue stick - awkwardly was the nicest way to phrase it. He shook his head and moved to stand behind her, "Oh my, well darling blonde one, it's time for billiards 101. It's called a cue." He gently took her hands and moved them to hold the cue properly, "See? It more comfortable this way yes?"

He helped her lean over and line up a shot, "It's all lines and angles, cause and effect." he helped her take the shot, "If you strike the cue ball it strikes the other..."

Thud. Click. Whoosh.

"And you sink the ball." he held out her glass of wine, "Something light."

Astoria held the stick in her hand and repeated him, "A cue. Okay." She smiled and looked up at him as he positioned the cue in her hand. The way he adjusted her felt much better, but still awkward because she wasn't used to it. "Yes, that is better."

She leaned back into him subconsciously as he was showing her how to shoot. She made the shot with his help and stood up smiling at him again. "Ha! You're a good teacher." Putting the stick down and leaning against the pool table, Astoria took the glass of wine from him. "Perfect."

She was already feeling more relaxed, "This is fun. Thank you Theo." She took a sip of her wine and turned to him. "So. How are you doing these days?" It was no secret that purebloods weren't going through the best of times right now, but she figured she'd ask anyhow.

Theo chuckled and shook his head, "You mean now that it's open season on anyone that is pure and has ever been even remotely proud of that fact? Oh, it's been peachy." He took a sip of his whiskey, "It's been interesting lately. But you know that as well as anyone."

He lined up his next shot and took it, again relishing in the simplicity of the motion and the sounds. No arguing, no political maneuvering. Just - thud, click and whoosh. He turned to her.

"So, it has been awhile, and while I am glad to see you resurfacing - how are things going for you these days?" He grinned at her, "I am curious."

Astoria looked down at her feet. It really was horrible what was being done to them. While they weren't necessarily all good people, there were plenty of purebloods that were great, wonderful people and yet, they would still be victims too. "I know. It's terrible. Worried that someone close to me will be next, you know?"

She watched him as he took a shot, looking like it was the easiest thing to him. He was handsome, anyone could admit that and she was admiring his figure. If she knew him better, she may have asked to photograph him.

She was taken out of her trance when he spoke to her again. She smiled at him before speaking, "It's been too long. I've been well. I'm living with Daphne and Clint because of all of this. I kind of miss my house but I understand their concern for me. And I'm working at Witch Weekly as a photographer. That's been nice. It's good to be home again." While it was true, her face fell at the last sentence. Home was getting scarier by the second and she knew that. It was too unfortunate, really. "How's work been going?"
