WHO: Open to All - seriously bring your kids!
WHAT: Cookout on the Houseboat
WHERE: Geoff's Houseboat
WHEN: Saturday Afternoon
RATING: Idek. TBD
STATUS: In Progress

Geoff was tired. Exhausted actually but he was looking forward to the houseboat party. He'd bought brawts, hot dogs and beef for burgers. It'd be a good night. There was a keg on the deck and he figured people would show up with their own booze as well. It was the perfect night for a party. The air was warm with a hint of a breeze and spring had finally made its way to England. His boat was docked outside of London, preferring the country air to the busyness of the Thames. It'd be a good night, of that he was sure. Frowning, he realized he hadn't spoken with Drew all that much. It was different, this role reversal. He wasn't used to it. He was the one who charmed the ladies and he didn't know exactly what was going on with Drew and Mandy but he was pretty sure he didn't like it.

Amanda Brocklehurst... his thoughts drifted, trying to sort out what he'd found out about her in his head. There was something that just didn't seem to connect. She'd become involved because of her dead father but she was trying to protect someone? Her mother, perhaps. It was hard to understand what was going on in that girl's head. Who was she? He shook his head, intent on finding out. Part of him didn't believe she was as innocent as she seemed but he was a little jaded in regards to women. The last woman who'd claimed innocence had been anything but. Of course, Mandy had never once proclaimed her innocence and that's what was throwing him off.

Shaking it off, he turned the grill on, waving to Katie and Alicia. Those two amused the bloody hell out of him. Ali looked good and he let his eyes wander over her. He caught sight of Drew looking around to see if his shadow was with him. He didn't spot her but that didn't matter. She was tiny and could be lost in the tall crowd that seemed to be the Gryffindor crew. George, Cormac and Ken were all there and he waved at his mates. Fuck. He really did love his house.

Drew was glad to be out of the house. He had the easier of the two jobs with Mandy, but she still wasn't aware of just who he and Geoff were. He just wanted a night where he wasn't both the Auror and the criminal. He didn't want a title and tonight he could have that. He wasn't sure how Geoff would feel about him inviting Mandy, but he'd done so anyway. If nothing else he could just tell him it was part of getting to know her. Though, if he was honest with himself, it was hard to remember sometimes that he was suppose to be asking the right questions.

Pushing those thoughts aside, he nodded to Geoff when he looked that way as he waited for Mandy. Other than Ken and Geoff, he wasn't sure if she knew anyone else that would be there. He'd invited her after all and he wasn't going to leave her on her own.

Geoff handed the tongs over to one of his mates and grinned, clapping him on the shoulder. "Don't burn anything," he said, laughing. He headed towards Drew, grabbing a couple beers on the way. He and Dre had been best mates for as long as he could remember and he wasn't sure what was going through his friend's head at the moment and that concerned him son.

"Hey," he said, grinning, handing him a beer. He didn't see their little criminal about but he had a feeling she wouldn't be that far behind. Something seemed a little out of sorts with Drew but he wasn't sure if it was a good idea to mention that here. Still, he was his best mate. Clapping him on the shoulder he looked around. "Been a while since I've seen this many Gryffindor's in one place." He took a drink and glanced at Drew. "How's everything going?" he asked, knowing that Drew would know what he was talking about.

Drew grinned, accepting the beer from Geoff when he offered it. He had a feeling Geoff wanted to discuss the whole Mandy thing but for the moment, Drew didn't really want to get into the specifics. He knew Geoff that he was crossing a line and that he was worried. You didn't spend as much time working together as they did without knowing the back-stories. "You should make it a regular thing," he nodded, taking a drink of his beer. It was good to be around the old gang again. Merlin knew, they all had busy lives. It was like a bloody Gryffindor prerequisite.

"It's going well," he responded, his eyes automatically scanning the crowd. It was habit. The topic of their current case wasn't exactly something you talked about in public without taking care. "Outside of her regular orders there's been nothing from Smythwick."

"Oh it will be," he said, nodding at Bell. "Just waiting for the weather to warm up a little more. Much prefer it when the ladies come wearing hardly anything as opposed to jeans and sweaters." Course, it was warm tonight and he was in a t-shirt and the light breeze would cool things down considerably when the sun set. Geoff looked over the crowd, wondering when the non Gryffindors would make their appearance. He wouldn't be surprised if it was soon.

He nodded in response. Smythwick was hard to pin down. There was no name on any of the Auror lists or databases. It was, obviously, an alias but it was proving to be a hard one to crack. He was just about to say something when he caught sight of a short, brunette, climbing the ramp. Frowning, he glanced at Drew, not surprised he'd invited her but he was itching to tell his mate to be careful. Something about her he didn't trust. Perhaps it was the fact that she seemed so bloody genuine. "Well," he said, finishing off his beer. "At least one of gets to enjoy himself."

"Best part about the summer," he chuckled, taking another drink of his beer. They'd had some of their best parties out on the water and Merlin knew, woman in bathing suits all of the deck certainly helped make it that much better. "Not that jeans don't have a certain aptitude for showing off a shapely arse, but less is always better."

He raised an eyebrow when Drew frowned, turning and following his gaze. Spotting Mandy when she reached the top of the ramp, the corner of his lips tugged up into a grin. Chuckling, he turned to look back at Geoff. "Play the role, right?" he asked, keeping the topic light. He didn't want to get into this right then. He knew he was walking a very thin line and he knew the consequences. "I did learn from the best and what not."

"Isn't that the fucking truth," Geoff said, looking at the fully clothed ladies on his boat. "I do enjoy it more when they feel the need to abuse my generosity and lie half-naked in the sun on my deck." The summer was filled with most of his female friends making use of his deck and he didn't mind one bit. Most of the girls here he'd known forever and he didn't mind sharing. Aside from the fact they were all quite lovely, he had fun with them.

Geoff couldn't help but frown when Drew's normally annoyed look disappeared and a smile appeared for Mandy. He glanced at her noting her smile seemed to light up when she saw him. Well, fuck. He took a long drink of his beer. "Even the best can fuck it up," he said, caustically, finishing off his beer, thoughts drifting to Jenna, the innocent who'd turned out to be not so innocent.

Geoff's tone caught Drew's attention immediately. He knew exactly what Geoff was talking about and by the look in his eyes, he had a feeling he knew exactly who he was thinking about. "Even the best can make a mistake," he corrected, not only acknowledging the dangerous line he was walking, but also reaffirming his opinion on the Jenna problem. It hadn't been Geoff's fault. Even he hadn't been able to pick anything up from Jenna other than just a simple feeling of unease.

He didn't say anything else on the subject, knowing that Mandy was going to be within hearing distance. "Seriously, though," he continued, lightening his tone as he continued. Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out five tiny bottles. Holding them out to Geoff, he grinned. "Told you I'd bring the whiskey."

Geoff's face darkened, bits of the past going through his mind. Jenna had fooled them all but he'd been fooled the most. It was why he didn't quite trust little Ms. Innocent. Still, now was not the time to toss out lectures and the like. His eyes flickered over the crowd, falling back on Brocklehurst, amused that she made a beeline straight for Drew. Of course, it could be because she didn't know anyone else.

"Good job with the whiskey," he said, taking a small bottle of Ogden's and polishing it off. That shite was so fucking strong. "So fucking strong..." He grinned and clapped his friend on the shoulder, watching the small brunette bite her bottom lip and stare hesitantly at them as though she didn't want to intrude. He didn't really feel the need to invite her over but maybe he was pulling a Drew and being a dick.

Drew didn't say anything else regarding the situation with Jenna. Geoff was going to think what he wanted, regardless of what Drew, himself, thought. "You know I always come through when it comes to good whiskey," he chuckled, glad that the topic of conversation seemed to shift. "It's in my blood and whatnot."

He could sense her hanging behind them. Geoff's eyes had already moved to glance over his shoulder, but he didn't make a move in regards to her. Clearly they needed to have a talk. Drew wondered just what it was Geoff had been finding in her history. Besides, it would be good to touch base.

Glancing back to Mandy, he moved his head, indicating that she could come over. This wasn't exactly the place to be talking about work, particularly theirs.

Mandy was hesitant at first, not really getting warm, welcoming vibes from either of them. Maybe she'd done something wrong? She swallowed, somewhat nervously, flashing back to her night with Drew and quickly pushing it aside. It was just sex and she was okay with that. Still, the cold shoulder from Geoff was strange. Maybe he was just in a bad mood. He'd always been rather friendly to her. She made her way towards them, slowly and slightly uncertain at first.

"Hi," she said, nervously, glancing between the two of them. Geoff's cold, steely gaze wasn't exactly the most comforting thing in the world but then, he seemed to get over whatever was bothering him because he smiled and handed her a drink. "Thanks," she said, taking a sip of ale.

Geoff nodded, looking her over. So fucking adorable and possibly the creator of two highly addictive potions. Fuck. So fucking weird.

Drew was glad when the tension between them seemed to dissipate. Merlin, that was bloody awkward. He hated awkward. Give him angry, sad, whatever, just so long as it wasn't awkward. He would have snorted at Geoff's thoughts. It really wasn't that far off from his own. She was adorable, but there was a certain sexiness beneath it that he couldn't seem to ignore, not even with the thoughts of what they were all involved in.

"It's about time you showed up," he responded, offering her a smirk. The entire situation was weird, if he was honest with himself, but he was glad she'd decided to show up. The more time he spent with her the more information he could get and, maybe then, he could figure out what the bloody hell he was suppose to do about protecting her at the same time he and Geoff brought down the Potions ring she was involved in.

Mandy smiled at Drew, adoring that smirk. Taking a long drink of beer, she leaned back against the banner, looking around. It was a nice boat. Fun, actually. "This is nice, Geoff," she said, giving him a hesitant smile. She shouldn't want him to like her but she did. Drew and Geoff were very close and she wasn't sure what she and Drew were doing and she didn't want to read too much into it but she wouldn't mind if his best friend didn't seem to loathe her. His return smile didn't quite meet his eyes and she frowned, not sure what she'd done.

"Thank you for inviting me," she said, smiling at Drew. "It was this or stay in and bake another pie..." Or, try to perfect the potion that she was currently working on. If it worked the way she wanted it to... it would help break addictions. She didn't want to say that aloud though. "And this is infinitely more fun than baking."

Geoff was his best mate, but he was a little glad when the bloke spotted Alicia and made departed from them. Merlin, he seriously needed to sit down with the guy and figure this whole thing out. Geoff normally wasn't this much ... like him. Drew was normally the one with the attitude and it was a little weird seeing it on Geoff.

"Don't mind him," he responded, turning his attention away from Geoff's retreating back. "He's just in a mood." He played it off as nothing, hoping to distract her attention from the odd encounter. "Besides, Baking's not so bad. It's certainly growing on me." It wasn't that much of a hardship to invite her. For whatever reason, he was enjoying his time with her.

Mandy watched Geoff walk away, confusion apparent on her face. She had no bloody idea what she'd done to offend him and that confused her. People usually liked her. She was nice. Frowning, finger playing with her lip, she wasn't sure what to do. Maybe she should go? He didn't seem to be in a mood with Alicia Spinnet. Biting her bottom lip, she wasn't sure what to say or do. Turning back to Drew, she gave him a small smile before taking a sip of her ale.

"Well," she said, smiling at him. "I certainly had fun the last time I baked." Course, the last time she'd baked had been with him and that chocolate pie had turned out very well. That and the amazing sex. That had been brilliant as well. "I'll turn you into an excellent baker if it's the last thing I do."

"I'm more than willing to let you try," he responded, pleased to see her smile widen and the confusion disappear from her face. Nothing good could come from her thinking about why Geoff was acting the way he was. Besides, he was a selfish kinda bloke and he much preferred it when she was thinking about him.

He may not be the best baker, but he could draw those perfect little gasps from her and he was content with that. "The invite didn't interrupt anything, did it?" he asked, dropping an arm around her waist and drawing her closer. He hadn't been lying when he'd told Drew that things had been slow. Outside of her regular orders, there hadn't been any changes, which was a little frustrating.

Mandy giggled, rolling her eyes playfully, all thoughts of Geoff's rudeness vanishing under Drew's attention. She really shouldn't be this effected by him but she was. "I'm sure you are," she said, teasingly, blushing a little. She took another sip of her ale, looking around, enjoying the night. It was nice here. Still, part of her was curious as to why he invited her. She hadn't seen him since they'd slept together and things weren't nearly as awkward as she thought they'd be.

She had to admit, when he pulled her into his arms, pixies started dancing and she pushed them aside. She was just going to enjoy this for what it was. Relaxing against him, she shook her head. "Not really. I got an owl from him," she said, softly, shrugging. "I have to double next week's order and I don't know why." She sighed and rubbed her temples. It was going to make for a very long week. "It's going to be a very... long week."

He chuckled when the light blush brightened her cheeks. He hadn't really thought about why he'd invited her, he just had. He supposed he just wanted to get her out of that Apothecary of hers. He frowned, however, when she mentioned that Smythwick had contacted her. Perhaps he had spoken too soon. Something was clearly going on. One didn't suddenly double stock for no reason.

"Perhaps he's getting ready to ship internationally," he responded, both thinking over the possibilities and probing for a little more information. He doubted she really knew any reason as to why, from what he could gather she just did what she was told. "If you need anything just let me know, alright?" he asked, brushing a light kiss to her forehead, his thoughts going over the situation.

Mandy sighed, hating her job and what she did. "I'm not sure," she said, thoughtfully. She hesitated, realizing she shouldn't be discussing this with him but, well, she trusted him. "Activity in the area seems to be picking up... I've had a few people come in, asking about illegals and the fact that they know I'm involved?" She shrugged. "It's not exactly ideal." She smiled sadly, realizing that her name had gotten out. "I think my name's been leaked or something. Or, they at least know that someone supplies them from my shoppe." Biting her lip, she hesitated, looking at him. No. She wouldn't tell him about her new project. He might not like it.

"I think it's something else," she said, shaking her head. "I mean, nobody tells me anything. I just do it but I think he's trying to figure out how to make it... how to replicate it." She didn't want to know what would happen to her after she was no longer needed. The thought made her shiver. She was pretty sure the fact that nobody had been able to duplicate it what had kept her alive.

Drew wasn't at all pleased with the fact that there were more people who were aware of what she was doing and he wondered, briefly, if any of that information was being leaked from the Department. It meant it was going to be harder to get her out without repercussions. He had to admit, however, that the idea of replicating the potion through means other than Mandy was a smart idea, business wise. One person could only make so much, double the workforce and you doubled the product.

His thoughts were similarly along hers. What were they using to hold her with and what was going to happen once they no longer needed that leverage. If there was one thing he knew it was that she wasn't in the business for the fun of it. "You said it was difficult to make, yes?" he asked, going over the facts in his head. "How much luck do you think they'll have?"

Mandy worried about her safety and what would happen to her if actual addicts started finding out where she worked and that it was her who supplied it. Sometimes, she wanted to close up shop and just run. But, that was an expense she couldn't afford.

She leaned against him, shifting her weight, thinking seriously about his question. She didn't know if they'd be able to replicate it. So far, no one had but she wasn't sure why that was, exactly. "I don't know..." she said, worriedly. "I mean, it kind of makes me nervous. Not someone else making it... sometimes I wish-" She shrugged. That she hadn't made it and that she hadn't gotten stuck in her current line of work. "Maybe if they can find an advanced Potions's Master..." She knew is sounded a little cocky but there was a reason she was one of the youngest Potion's Master's out there. "I don't know, Drew..."

Drew was finding himself very glad they'd taken the time to ward both her flat and the Apothecary, even if he didn't quite understand why she didn't just get out of it entirely. As far as he knew she hadn't sought any sort of help to get out and that tugged at the back of his mind. She hadn't gone to the Ministry, she'd just ... done what she was told.

"Don't get too worried," he responded, doing what he could to keep her calm. There was no point upsetting the balance she had until it was necessary. "The wards around your flat and shop will hold." Though, he supposed he was more worried about what they would be doing if they did manage to get another witch or wizard to successfully brew it. More importantly, what happened when it wasn't? If the effects were bad when brewed properly, he could only imagine what the effects might be if it wasn't.

"If they manage to get it stabilized to consume, what's the side-effects if it's not done properly?" he asked, unsure if she would even know. She wouldn't be in her position if she brewed it incorrectly, after all.

Sighing, Mandy glanced at Ken, wondering if he'd have been able to help her. She'd thought about going to him. After all, he was the one who'd caught her during a weak moment. He'd have been able to help, she was sure of it. Worrying her lower lip, she let out a bit of a sad sigh. He'd been her friend and she trusted him but things had changed between them. She still didn't quite understand why he was friends with two international potion's dealers. She glanced between the three men, unsure how Ken didn't know...

Drew's voice pulled her out of her thoughts and she just nodded. "I'm sure they will," she murmured, there was something about the situation that didn't quite settle with her but she wasn't sure what piece of the puzzle she was missing.

"Honestly?" she said, shrugging. "I have no idea. Experimenting with potions is touchy. You have to have volunteers..." She shrugged. "I didn't have any of that. I usually just test them on myself... But, the Ineffable? I messed up the second time I brewed it, for my dad, and I ended up with blisters everywhere..." She shuddered. "That was just the physical side effect... The problem? Side-effects differ depending on what you do or don't do."

Drew was completely unaware of Mandy's suspicions, his own thoughts circling the problem of an increased amount of Ineffable hitting the streets, let alone the possibility of it all being created properly. St. Mungo's would need to be updated for any possibilities. They didn't know that was what was going on, but precautions were better than nothing.

"Right," he responded, lost for a moment in his own thoughts. It wasn't as though he could just tell her to not make them. What was she suppose to do? Run? There was obviously something holding her there. He needed to know what it was and he had a feeling she wasn't going to be willing to talk about it. "Why don't you just get out?" he asked, a hand moving to the small of her back, holding her against him as he attempted the only thing he could really think of at the moment. "Just pack up and leave?"

"I've thought about it," she said, finishing off her beer. "It's just... It's not really an option." She shrugged, not wanting to go into the details of everything. They had killed her father, inadvertently, but had hinted that her mother would be next or she'd be next if she didn't do what she was told. She shivered at the thought, remembering the attack and knowing that her mother had gone through something similar when she'd first refused to do what she'd been told.

"I don't know, Drew," she said, wearily, rubbing the bridge of her nose. "After years of doing this... I'm not even sure I can get out." Some days she felt defeated and today was one of them. She just wanted a normal life. Something so different then what she had. Well, more legal would be nice. Still, the potion she was currently working on, if it worked, would get her out. She just... didn't want anyone to find out about it.

"If you want out, I'm sure an opportunity will present itself," he responded, his mind filing away as much detail as he could. He wanted to give her the option right then, but they weren't far enough in yet. If he blew his cover now, they'd have nothing to bring down the ring and they'd still be out there.

He wanted to ask what it was they had against her; what was keeping her there, but he sensed she was reaching the end of the conversation and putting up a wall. He'd save it for another time.

"Hey," he started, brushing a kiss to her forehead, "You're not brewing potions right now. Just forget about it for a little while, alright?"

If only it was that easy. She'd love to forget about it. Forever. But, well it was always there, in the back of her mind. Mandy smiled at him, enjoying the light brush of his lips. This was nice. And... well, if you took away their professions, it was normal. Isn't this what girls her age were supposed to do? Find a cute boy and enjoy some serious snogging and shagging and have fun? Everything in her life had seemed so bloody serious.

She turned, facing him and stood on her tip-toes, brushing a kiss over his lips. "Forgetting about it would be absolutely brilliant," she said, with a smile. She still didn't understand why someone who was voluntarily involved would ask her why she wanted out but she'd piece that mess together later. Something was off. Course, she could just be overly suspicious.

Katie leaned back against the railing, feeling much better than she had a couple days ago. She hadn't talked to Marcus since nearly puking all over him, to embarrassed to really want to talk to him, she'd headed off to her game, still slightly under the weather but they'd easily pulled off a win. The Canons were really not much of a match. She'd heard Falmouth had won and had left it at that. Sarah hadn't returned so she could only assume she was still staying with Marcus. Siging, she took a sip of her water, not quite ready for ale just yet.

Waving to Drew and Geoff, she looked out over the water, jealous of Geoff's boat. It would be fun, living on a houseboat, able to relocate when you felt like it. She liked that idea. Still, she did love her house. She pursed her lips, wondering where George was. He said he'd be coming but he had the tendency to get caught up in whatever it was he was working on.

George had promised Katie that he'd go to Geoff's party that evening and he didn't plan on missing it. He did that often enough; getting lost in his work. He always felt bad about it, even if his friends weren't surprised by it. George had a tendency to be a bit of a workaholic, particularly now that it was just him, which was why he'd set an alarm clock to make sure he didn't work through it.

When the alarm went off he was tempted to ignore it, but did eventually managed to pull himself away from what he'd been working on. There was nothing brewing currently that couldn't be maintained with a status charm. Switching out of his work clothes, George made sure the lab was locked up, passed off the shop keys to Sarah, and apparated out. He was suppose to be meeting Katie there and he had a feeling she was going to be already waiting.

Climbing up the ramp, he grabbed a couple of the ales floating around and began his search for the familiar head of blonde hair. Spotting her leaning against the railing and looking out over the water, he headed in her direction. "Don't look so serious, Bell, you'll get wrinkles."

Katie smiled when she heard George, turning and giving him a big hug. She adored George Weasley. Really, he might be her favorite person on the planet. She kissed him soundly on the cheek and leaned back against the railing. She worried about him. He'd become such a workaholic since Fred had... passed on. She couldn't even imagine what he went through on a daily basis but Merlin, he was one of the strongest men she knew.

"Maybe a few wrinkles would make me look a little older than some gawky teenager," she said, laughing. George was one of her best friends. They'd always been close and she missed getting into trouble with him. Still, they'd both grown up. Him a little more than her, oddly enough but there you have it. "You're looking dashing as always," she said, tugging on the sleeves of her hoodie. She'd come straight from her game and hadn't bothered with anything other than jeans and a practice hoodie.

He could definitely say he missed the same things Katie did. He missed Hogwarts on a daily basis. He missed how it was back then; all of them together, getting into trouble. It was hard to spend that much time together nowadays. They all had their different careers. The girls still played Qudditch, Lee was off doing whatever it was Lee did, he had the shop, Fred ... well, Fred was gone completely. It was hard to find the time. Or at least, that's what he told himself. A part of him, however, wondered if it was because he didn't want to try and make it like old times simply because he knew it would never be. This party, however, he could do.

"But I like the gawky teenager," he grinned, handing her one of the ales he'd snagged coming into the party. He wasn't at all bothered by the fact that she was wearing a pair of jeans and a hoodie. Most of the people there were dressed similarly. He was used to this Katie Bell. It was the dressed up one he didn't really know.

Katie laughed and took the ale from him. "I'm sure. And the next thing you know, I'll be pimply and crying in the stall because some bloke said I was too tall or whatever it was I was teased about." She hadn't really minded her height but it had made it rather difficult for her as she was taller than most of the blokes until they'd all gotten older. At nearly five foot ten, she did stand well above most of the girls here. "I like her too. She's much more fun that the glammed up doll they try to make me whenever I have to make a public appearance." Katie had occasionally stepped out for a few Quidditch fundraisers and some Puddlemere publicity events but she'd never really liked it. She didn't like the public eye and preferred to stay in her own little world. Still, she'd suffered through calenders and posters but none of it felt like her.

"I miss you," she said, softly, resting her head on his shoulder. It was sad without him, really. She knew there was no going back but she felt like she'd lost her friends once she'd started playing. Her schedule was so busy, what with traveling and the occasion international scrimmage. "I'm glad you came!"

George laughed. "Even when you were a gawky teenager you weren't "pimply and crying in the stall"," he responded, amused. George had always been tall and Katie's height had never really seemed to stand out to him. He was more apt to notice when someone was short, having to look down at them. He did wrinkle his nose when she mentioned having to get dolled up. "You never look better than when you're camped out in jeans, your sleeves rolled up, and elbows deep in some sort of mess I've created."

George could say he would make a conscious effort to be out in the public more often, but they both knew that wasn't going to happen. He was comfortable at the shop, working with his experiments and dealing with the regulars. "I'm only an owl away, you know," he responded, moving his arm to rest around her when she leaned against him.

Katie had tripped over her legs countless times. Her feet, too. How she became coordinated enough to play Quidditch was beyond her but she'd had an extensive reach and she'd felt at home on a broom and in the air. There was really nothing quite like it. "True," she said, thinking about his gawky comment. "I never actually cried in a stall..." She leaned into him, enjoying being around George. He was always there for her. No matter what. She loved her time with him and these days? It was precious. "Well," she said, smiling and leaning up to kiss him on the cheek. "Aren't you just full of compliments tonight."

Leaning her head against his shoulder, she looked over the crowd, happy to see all of her friends. It was nice. It really had been way too long. "I know," she said, smiling sadly. "It's not the same, though." It wasn't the same as running across the common room and finding him and Fred in a corner somewhere discussing something. She'd always managed to weasel her way in and find out what was going on.

"Always with the sound of surprise," he chuckled, squeezing her affectionately. He really did adore Katie, she was like another sister. Sure, he had plenty of siblings already, but he was more than happy to include her in his family circle. They'd always been close. Right from first year. He had always got along with Angelina and Alicia, but it was different with Katie. Katie had always been in knee deep in any sort of trouble he and Fred had caused. She had been around almost as much as Lee back then.

Turning, he placed a kiss in her hair. "No, it's not, but that doesn't mean it can't be close, right?" Some days he still thought about whether or not he should have closed up shop after Fred had died. It would have freed up some of his time, but on the other hand he wondered just what he would have done with his life. Staying busy had kept his mind off Fred.

"You're going to have my head swollen and my ego too large to get through the night," she said, teasingly. Merlin. She just loved George to death. He and Fred had taken her under their wing and teased the hell out of her on the train ride to Hogwarts. She was so sad when they left. Of course, she was sad because most of her friends had been a year ahead of her and she'd been the youngest in the crowd, stuck behind them and that was never any fun. Still, they had a great time together.

Smiling, Katie nodded. "Very true. I'm just glad we all seem to be one place right now," she said, nodding. "What're you working on that has you so engrossed anyway?" she asked, knowing that when George got going, he REALLY got going.

Cormac was more than ready for a bit of fun. He loved playing Quidditch, but playing on a team full of Slytherins was rather annoying some times. Sure, he'd grown used to them and there were rarely any problems that arose between them, but it definitely wasn't what he was used to. It didn't matter what anyone said about house lines, it was a very different thing to hang out with a bunch of Slytherins than it was with Gryffindors. It was nice to be back in the loud, boisterous comfort zone.

The party had clearly been going a while when he showed up. His arms were still sore from the ridiculous practice and then the game that weekend, but he ignored it in favour of ale and friends. He could always sleep when he was dead. Grabbing an ale, he moved through the group of people on the boat. He'd past Geoff and Drew by the ramp, nodding to them but not interrupting their conversation. He'd catch up with them later.

Of course Alicia had showed up. She loved Geoff, she loved alcohol, and she loved spending time with her fellow Gryffindors. She didn't bother dressing up, prefering insteading to wear a pair of torn up jeans and small tshirt. She'd spent her first bit of time there talking with Katie...mostly about her slaggy pathetic excuse of a sister and then a little about Flint. Alicia practically spit whatever she'd been drinking out when she found out Katie had gotten sick right before they'd slept together. She made some comments about how that was probably a more enjoyable experience than sleeping with him would have been and then wished that Katie had thrown up ON Flint. That was the only thing that could have made her story better.

But then Alicia had excused herself to go get another drink, realizing she'd choked on most of hers during Katie's stories. When she'd gotten herself a new drink, she turned around to head back to Katie but saw her with George. She glanced around to see who else was there and spotted Geoff and Drew with some short little brunette. Hmm, which group to bother? She hadn't spoken to George in a while, but Geoff was always a fun time. Maybe she'd just let someone come to her. She gave Geoff a quick smile before starting on her drink.

Geoff left Drew and Brocklehurst with a somewhat forced and strained smile. He just couldn't nail her down. She seemed so fucking genuine he didn't want to believe it and it was fucking driving him mental. Slightly annoyed he grabbed another beer and spotted Ali. Well, that was certainly a lady who'd cheer him right up. Walking over to her, he casually slung an arm over her shoulder and looked over his party. So many Gryffindor's in one place. It was like his houseboat had become the bloody common room and he was seriously loving every bloody minute of it. Minus the small work interference.

"How's it going, my start Quidditch player?" he asked, grinning down at her. "Can I get your bloody autograph yet?" Sometimes, it was hard to believe her and Katie had gone on to become famous Quidditch players. It amused him to no end. They both weren't exactly limelight material.

Alicia smiled up at Geoff when he put his arm around her. Well, he'd certainly made her decision of who to bother easy. She adored Geoff. He was a fantastic friend, really. And an even better snog. She always had a good time with him and he was just so bloody fun. "An autograph?" she asked with a laugh. "Sure you can get one. But it's going to cost you," she said playfully.

She glanced around the party again, really just impressed with the turn out. It felt like they were back at school. Only with slightly more alcohol and the realization that they could pretty much do whatever they wanted without getting points deducted. IT was nice. It was also a nice and relaxing break from Quidditch. "Nice get together. Your taste in friends clearly doesnt suck," she stated. Not that she hadn't already known he had good taste in friends. But she'd thought the same about Katie and now she was willing to give up her innocence to Flint, so it was hard to tell with people anymore.
