Eloise crossed her legs, eyes flicking to Augie's fingers wrapped around her wrist. She watched her hand drop into her lap and she looked back up at him and smiled. Propping her head on her hands, she sighed. "It itches," she pouted, willing herself not to rub it. To keep herself from scratching, she sat on her other hand, tucking it under her bum. "Shouldn't you sleep or something?" she asked, brow furrowed. "It's late and I know you work in the morning." Course, she wouldn't mind if he joined her for breakfast. "We could have breakfast when you get up?" She knew he wasn't going to sleep more than five hours, if that, and she liked to drag him out when she could.
He looked so sad and lost. Frowning, Eloise reached out, letting her hand settle on his knee. "It'll get better, Augie," she said, softly. Elle gave him a bright smile and a small laugh. "I promise!" She really did believe everything wold work out for him. Augie was a wonderful person and he worked hard and was loyal and really, just the perfect man- person. Healer. Whatever. He was it.
"I'm sure of it!" she said, glancing at her hand, cheeks turning a bit pink. Sometimes, these days, things felt different with him. They'd always been close and friendly and she'd always liked him...well, more. But he wasn't interested that way. She knew that.
