Who: Adrian and Emma
When: Saturday Night
Where: Pucey Manor
What: Last portion of their date

It had been a very long time since he'd had to worry about putting together a proper date. He supposed he could blame that on Quidditch, but it didn't really make a difference. Most of the time he wasn't concerned with impressing them or actually getting to know a woman, so dates weren't really necessary. Sure, they had dinner, but that's about as much thought as he put into it. Emma, however, was different. She wasn't like the other girls he'd been with. She wasn't looking for anything from him. She didn't even seem to think he was serious about finding her attractive. More significantly, she'd never really been on a proper date and Adrian wanted to give her that. Don't ask him why? He really couldn't formulate an answer. Maybe it was because he had a sister, himself, and he would have wanted her to have the experience too ... even if the thought of her dating made his stomach turn.

As it stood, he had very different thoughts on whether Emma should date. Their date had gone well so far. Dinner had gone by smoothly. He'd made a reservation at one of his favourite restaurants. It wasn't one that was ridiculously classy or expensive, figuring she really wasn't that sort of girl. He wanted to make her comfortable. After dinner, they'd gone to get ice cream. He'd couldn't not take her. The fact that she was expanding her horizon through ice cream amused him. More importantly, he liked when she did that with him. The last part of the date involved taking her home, but not in the way he normally meant.

It was clear that there was still something she was dealing with from her past. She didn't really like having people close to her, nor did she like crowds. He was slowly piecing the puzzle together. It was cheesy, he knew, but there was little he could do about it. She sort of deserved sweet ... even if it was kind of cheesy.

They'd been walking through Diagon Alley after their ice cream. She was probably thinking he'd take her home, but that wasn't going to happen just yet. "There's something I wanted to show you before I take you home, if you don't mind?" he asked, looking over to her. He wasn't entirely sure how she was going to react to ending up at his house ... or one of them anyway, but he was hoping she wouldn't take it the wrong way. For once, he didn't have any ulterior motives.

"Different isn't a bad thing," he responded, meeting her eyes as she spoke. He knew what she was thanking him for and she really didn't need to. It was because she was different that she'd caught his attention. Most people were all the same. Once face blended into the next, all sharing the same personality. She didn't fit that role and it was rather refreshing. "You're welcome. Really."

He was relieved when she said it was alright. He really hadn't wanted to call the Knight bus. How bloody embarrassing would that have been, to vomit at the first disgusting lurch. How people seemed to use that poor excuse for transportation was beyond him. Slipping an arm around her, he warned her briefly before he apparated them just outside the wards to the Manor. He didn't want to chance trying to get through them with her. The last thing he wanted to do was splinch her. He'd heard it was rather painful.

When they settled, he removed his arm from around her waist but didn't move away from her, letting her move if she chose to. "I'm glad that you trust me, Emma, but I need you to keep that trust for a little bit longer, alright? This isn't what it looks like."

It was strange. Being this close to someone. His arms were around her and it didn't last long but she had to admit, she rather liked it and it was nice. Still, when they landed outside a very large home, Emma's eyes were wide and she felt slightly sick. She hated apparition. Still, when he dropped his arms from around her, Emma smiled up at him and managed to convince herself to stay closer. Well, almost. She only moved just a hair. Not as far away as she normally would've but not so close that she was in his arms.

Tucking her hair behind her ear, Emma looked around the giant.. well, house. "This is... very large," she said, nodding. It was very ornate and very old and very much a pure-blood Slytherin home. Still, she stiffened a bit at the idea of being at his house. It was strange. Glancing back up at him, she looked worriedly at him. "What is it, then?"

Adrian was a little surprised when she didn't move away. A light smile covered his surprise, as he followed her gaze to glance at the Manor behind him. "Pucey Manor," he muttered, not really interested in showing her the building. It was just a bit of old English Architecture. Nothing too exciting and definitely not what he'd brought her here for.

She could feel it when she stiffened, some of the tension returning. What was it? He didn't really know how to explain it. Either way, it was going to sound stupid. "Just something I used to do as a kid," he said, rather than trying to explain it. He was used to being the jock. He wasn't so used to being the romantic. Holding out his hand for her again, he smiled lightly. "Completely innocent, I swear to you."

Emma didn't think he sounded all that interested in his ancestral home and she wasn't really one to push matters. Still, she thought it was rather pretty, if mildly terrifying. She had a happy childhood in a very modest and very loving household. Her family had been ripped apart by the war and her father was in St. Mungo's and her mother dead and buried. That thought had her feeling cold and she actually moved closer to Adrian as the sadness settled over her for a moment. She missed her mum. She'd loved her so much. They'd been so close. Shaking out her hair, she pushed those awful thoughts aside and laced her fingers with his when he held it out. She liked that. It was nice and comforting and she really was content just to hold his hand. It wasn't like she'd ever be able to do anything else.

Her brows shot up as he pulled her along. "Something you did as a child?" she said, smiling up at him. "I have a feeling you did a lot of not so innocent activities as a child." He didn't seem the type to sit idly by but what did she know? Emma had followed the rules, for the most part but had never really had many adventures. She'd been an only child and read a lot. She wasn't overly active. Still, she enjoyed running and yoga but that was about as active as she got.

"Alright," he chuckled, leading her around the side of the house and into the back gardens. His Mother had been redoing a lot of the landscape since his Father had died. Phillip Pucey had had strict regulations on what exactly she could keep, but Adrian didn't really care. His Mother had always loved the Garden and he had no problem with her focusing her extra time on that. One of the new additions was the low fairy lights floating along the edge of the walkway, lighting up the path. It was a nice touch, he had to admit. They were delicate and served a purpose. They weren't there just to have them. "So, as innocent as a child like me could manage."

Had he known she'd been thinking of energetic activities, he might have laughed. This was probably the laziest past time he had, which for him, was something. He absolutely hated being still. Passing his Mother's roses, he moved around the corner to the center of the garden and came to a stop. He'd asked his Mother for a favour before he'd left and it looked like she'd come through. One of the same blankets they'd used when he was younger lay, spread out over the grass to keep the dirt from their clothes. The fairy lights had extended a little further tonight, letting them light up the area just off the walkway and lifting some of the gloom from the darkness.

When she came to a stop beside him, he glanced over at her and grinned. "The city's great and everything, but there's one thing it doesn't have," he responded, glancing upward. The sky was clear and without the lights of the city, it looked like you could see every star in the galaxy. They dotted the sky, outlining the various pictures he was so familiar with.

Emma kept her hand firmly in his as she took in the sites around her. The twinkling lights along the garden path were beautiful and she kept looking around to take in the flowers. She loved flowers, really. They always had such a lovely scent and she always thought that they could cheer up any room. The fairy lights illuminated the garden just enough but still left it with a very romantic and soft atmosphere. "This is so beautiful," she said, absently. Stumbling a bit, she looked around, looking at the roses. She liked roses but the irises on the other side were what caught her attention. They were easily her favorite flower and she loved them. When they came to the clearing, Emma's brows shot up and she actually let out a small gasp. There were a few blankets spread out and without really thinking, she slipped out of her heels, wanting to leave them so she could feel the grass under her feet.

Dropping his hand, Emma stepped onto the grass, loving the feel of the cold blades on her bare feet. She used to stargaze with her mother. She'd been taught the constellations early on and had done extremely well in Astronomy in school, never getting anything but an O. She wasn't sure why but something about this... she had never quite felt like this. Her neck craned, staring at the sky before looking back at him, a smile alighting her face. "I don't even know what to say."

Taking a step back towards him, she did something rather uncharacteristic of her and gave him a hug. It wasn't long or drawn out but she'd wanted to kiss him and that scared her. He'd been so nice to her and she just- he was really just speechless. Grabbing his hand, she broke away, tugging him towards the blanket so they could sit down and enjoy the night. Sitting down gracefully, Emma tugged at her skirt and leaned back, head propped on the soft pillow that accompanied the blanket. "I can't believe you did this... I adore star gazing."

He supposed the garden was beautiful, particularly with the soft lighting from the fairy lights. It was just one of those things you started to take for granted because you saw it so often. He was, however, very pleased that she had taken this so well. He'd been afraid she'd get the wrong idea and storm off once she saw the blanket. Had he been walking into the surprise, it wouldn't have been something as innocent as stargazing that popped into mind.

He almost sighed in relief when she mentioned that she loved watching the stars. He didn't know how he was picking up these things, but he seemed to be doing a good job of it, so he really hoped that it would continue. She seemed to genuinely appreciate the gesture and it could be heard in her words when she spoke. "It didn't take much on my part," he shrugged, letting her lead him over to the blanket. "But I figured it might be something you would life."

Having kicked off his shoes, Adrian moved to stretch out beside her, keeping a little distance between them. Lifting his right arm, he tucked it behind his head, leaving his other hand free to point things out. Turning his head to look at her, he asked, "Which is your favourite?"

Emma settled into the blanket, propping her knees up, looking upward. You could see everything out here and it was brilliant. Biting her lip, Emma watched the sky, remembering all the times she'd hide up on the Astronomy tower and just gaze at the stars. It was one of her favorite things to do. Ever since she was a child, really. Her mother had taught her the constellations and they'd spent so much time looking upward that it wasn't until after she'd left Hogwarts and entered the Ministry that after she was raped and her mother killed, she'd settled her feet firmly on the ground and stopped looking towards the stars. Suddenly feeling very emotional, she took a deep, steadying breath and glanced over at Adrian and then back at the stars.

Clearing away the lump in her throat, she glanced upward. "Centaurus," she said, softly. There had always been something to infatuating to her about the story of Heralces and how he innocently killed his friend over a very selfish act. It had fascinated her. "When I was younger, I loved Andromeda." Emma shrugged absently. "What about you?" she asked, curious. He seemed like this was something he'd done often as a boy and it seemed somehow fitting. Adrian was very bright and he while he was very much an athlete, he wasn't the stupid kind.

She couldn't believe she was out here, on a blanket, star-gazing with Adrian Pucey. He was really constantly surprising her and she wasn't sure what to think of that. For right now, however, she was grateful and having a lovely time and she couldn't ask for a better, well, date. It was lovely and wonderfully perfect.
