Who: Adrian and Emma
When: Saturday Night
Where: Pucey Manor
What: Last portion of their date
It had been a very long time since he'd had to worry about putting together a proper date. He supposed he could blame that on Quidditch, but it didn't really make a difference. Most of the time he wasn't concerned with impressing them or actually getting to know a woman, so dates weren't really necessary. Sure, they had dinner, but that's about as much thought as he put into it. Emma, however, was different. She wasn't like the other girls he'd been with. She wasn't looking for anything from him. She didn't even seem to think he was serious about finding her attractive. More significantly, she'd never really been on a proper date and Adrian wanted to give her that. Don't ask him why? He really couldn't formulate an answer. Maybe it was because he had a sister, himself, and he would have wanted her to have the experience too ... even if the thought of her dating made his stomach turn.
As it stood, he had very different thoughts on whether Emma should date. Their date had gone well so far. Dinner had gone by smoothly. He'd made a reservation at one of his favourite restaurants. It wasn't one that was ridiculously classy or expensive, figuring she really wasn't that sort of girl. He wanted to make her comfortable. After dinner, they'd gone to get ice cream. He'd couldn't not take her. The fact that she was expanding her horizon through ice cream amused him. More importantly, he liked when she did that with him. The last part of the date involved taking her home, but not in the way he normally meant.
It was clear that there was still something she was dealing with from her past. She didn't really like having people close to her, nor did she like crowds. He was slowly piecing the puzzle together. It was cheesy, he knew, but there was little he could do about it. She sort of deserved sweet ... even if it was kind of cheesy.
They'd been walking through Diagon Alley after their ice cream. She was probably thinking he'd take her home, but that wasn't going to happen just yet. "There's something I wanted to show you before I take you home, if you don't mind?" he asked, looking over to her. He wasn't entirely sure how she was going to react to ending up at his house ... or one of them anyway, but he was hoping she wouldn't take it the wrong way. For once, he didn't have any ulterior motives.
