WHERE: Some restaurant
WHEN: Monday Evening
RATING: TBD
STATUS: In Progress
Ever since the Charity thing when Clint had given her that ring and made it public knowledge that they'd been engaged, he hadn't exactly acted like anything had changed. Well, actually, he had. She'd seen even less of him than usual which hadn't really been much to begin with. Sure he was busy with the team and it was generally a bad time of year for him because of his sister....but she felt almost forgotten. It wasn't like she expected him to drop everything every day to dote on her. But more than a hello and a head nod would be nice. Hell, even Cal had paid more attention to her than that. But she really was trying not to take it personally. Losing his sister had been hard on him and she was just going to assume that his avoidant attitude was due to that as opposed to disliking being around Daphne.
Of course, it wasn't like he'd asked for this marriage. So maybe Daphne really had changed enough that he wanted nothing to do with her. She didn't blame him, really. She was pretty aware of her multitude of short comings and Clint deserved someone better. But she was going to do what she could to be the best wife Clint could ask for. She'd been a bit surprised when he'd asked her to dinner for the evening but wasn't about to question it out loud. While it may not be shared on both sides, she really enjoyed spending time with him. And so she'd gotten dressed, glad they weren't going somewhere that required any sort of formal dress, and headed to the earlier specified restaurant.
It was a nice little Italian place and when Daphne arrived, Clint hadn't gotten there yet. He'd probably got held up having locker room sex with Flint or something. Daphne was shown to her table where she waited patiently for Clint. What if he was having second thoughts about the engagement or something? How awful would that be? Well, Daphne supposed she'd made it through worse news. But still. She really liked Clint and she had kind of thought he liked her too. She was nervous and that was stupid and she just really hoped he showed up soon. She didn't need to be seen sitting alone by Cal or any of his friends.
