Daphne couldn't help but laugh when he said she wasn't a pain. What a fucking lie. She was well aware what a pain she was. His whole life had practically been turned upside down over the last few weeks because of her and things weren't going to get any easier anytime soon. But he was an amazing friend and he'd done what he could to protect her. It was nice, really, knowing that someone cared about her at least on some level.
Daphne gave a hint of a smile when Clint said he didnt have a desire to be with anyone else. But his flat tone concerned her and she wasn't really sure what to make of it. "First of all, you're not going to fail me. Lucky for you, my expectations are pretty low these days. Don't try to kill me and you're pretty much the best fiance a girl could ask for," she said honestly. She knew she needed to work on that, but for now? That's really all she could hope for. "Besides, you're pretty great when you want to be, Clint. If you don't want to fail me, then you won't."
The part about his old life was a little weird. His old life was drinking and fucking lots of people. But he'd just said that he didn't have a desire to be with other people. So maybe he just...wasn't ready to have his options taken away or something? "Seriously. I'm not asking for commitment at this very second, Clint. You can....take your time or whatever." Honestly, she hadn't expected any sort of real commitment past one on paper so the fact that he was even entertaining the thought of giving her one was just...mind blowing.
