Lukas could practically see the steam coming from between the guy's ears as he seethed over beside him about anything and everything. He clearly had some deep rooted issues from this whole mess. Quite frankly, who didn't? But some were a little worse off than others. Lukas himself was by no means over his losses but he was managing. He was moving on. Or trying to. Sometimes it seemed like they haunted his dreams, asking why he wasn't there to protect them...
He shook the thought off when he heard the sneer and the curt response to his offer. He'd been somewhat serious. Some people just didn't want to stick around anymore because they didn't see the situation getting any better. Lukas respected that. He didn't agree, but he respected the decision. For his part, Lukas was all for living. Those he cared for most might not still be here, but they'd want him to keep living for them. Kill as many of those bastards as he could. And he planned to.
"Don't go gettin' all uppity. Just a suggestion. You're clearly not happy here so I figured why not end your misery. I don't plan on going anywhere any time soon either," he replied with a bit of a shrug of his shoulders. An amused smile crossed his face as he thought about the comment on gratitude. For some reason he liked pushing this guy's buttons. "I did say thank you. In my own way. Not all of us can be so adept with words as others..."
The man did a one eighty when he asked about Gabe and suddenly it was like he had a conscience after all. Who would have thought it? He said he'd keep an ear out and Lukas nodded curtly. What had he expected? To come to New York City and for the first person he meets to have information? Not likely. Though the sympathy led him to ask his next question, "So who are you missing? Gabe's my little brother. Might sound stupid, but I know he's out there. He's a smart kid. Smarter than me anyways... He's alive. I know it. I'm guessing you're in a similar boat."
