Rae wasn't entirely sure what it was about the way he was looking at her, but for the first time in a long time, she felt shy. She was used to men looking at her. She'd been a damned stripper, for god's sake. Guys had seen her more vulnerable than this on a nightly basis. But the way he'd gone from seeming a little bit sour to just… smiling with his whole face when he looked at her made her stomach twist a little bit.
"It's okay. You may not know it yet, but you'll learn eventually," she dashed her tongue out between her teeth teasingly. Her cheeks heated up a little when he told her that it looked good. "Thanks," she said. "I felt like a change and there was a bottle of pink dye at Macy's when I went raiding for this Halloween stuff, so I sort of… spur of the momented it," she explained. "I've always been spontaneous. Good to know that hasn't changed, I guess."
He seemed surprised at her memory, but Rae had a habit of logging little things like that away, for moments like this when it was important to make people smile. Her smile increased when he went from shock to grinning to telling her that she was the best, and she nudged him lightly with her hip. "I've heard it before, but it doesn't get tiring. I'm glad I found them, though. It's been awhile since I've seen you smile like that," she admitted. "It's nice."
When he commented on the setup, she shrugged a shoulder. "I did my best," she quirked a half-smile. She wasn't going to pretend that she hadn't heard the Negative Nancies, but if Eli liked it? Somehow that just… made up for it. "Glad you like it, though," she added.
"Wait, wait! There's more, though! For you, at least." She dug through the bag, smile still plain in her eyes as she grabbed hold of the wig and bandana combo, then looked up at him, tugging it out of the obnoxiously pink purse. "I seem to remember you promising me an air guitar solo, Mr. Zimmerman. I don't know if you know this, but I don't take promises lightly," she wiggled her eyebrows and straightened out the long blond wig.
