Donovan's head fell back a little as he chuckled, rolling his eyes as he did so. He was used to listening to this tune. People telling him that giving up was not something they were going to do. They were going to try and hold on to hope and try and make things as normal as one could. "It's better to roll over and take the facts. Hey, marching out there is probably the best way to go since people here are going to die one way or another."
He knew personally, he wasn't ready to give up. But that didn't mean he would allow people to see through that window. He put on a shiny little mask and pretended he wasn't at all phased by what was going on. He was just a character in a fucked up play he didn't want anything to do with. The man had every right to not want to surrender. "Oh dear, your optimism just brings tears to me eyes," he stated, smiling after the sarcasm dripped from his lips.
So many people around Donovan did things that were incredible. Of course, he considered it laughable and stupid. Just like what this guy did. Who the fuck cared about others? Were they really worth dying for? He didn't think so. But hey, this guy seemed to be one of those men with a heart. "Isn't that a feather in your cap? Caring for people who will probably die five days later. Me? I enjoy watching others work. I'm more the sidelines sort of fellow. I know, what a surprise."
