Filling up on candy was the second best part of Halloween. Part of Elliot was unwilling to let himself get too into the celebration, the horror of what happened at his previous safehouses having left that worrisome imprint in his mind. Boyhood desires were at the forefront of this battle, egged on by a sugar rush that could rival the god of sugar, if such a deity were to exist.
Although most of the candy had been claimed by the youngsters, the EMT still managed to snag a few Twix bars and a soda. That was okay with him; he was having more fun watching kids run around in half-made and, in some cases, mismatched costumes, and it almost made him forget for the moment that the hordes of the undead were overrunning the city.
Elliot glanced over when he heard a familiar voice beside him. It was one of those double-take moments where the person he expected to see didn't look at all like he expected her to. "What the hell?" The man doubled over in laughter, brown eyes taking in the full effect of Rae's 80s look. "Wow, that is a great costume. I can't believe you actually dyed your hair pink... and cut it."
Gesturing to the decorations, he asked, "Did you do all this?"
