For the past couple days, Elliot had spent much of his time in the hospital area of The Garden, assisting the other medics in tending to the injured. Quite the opposite of Carnegie, this place had far too few survivors with medical training, so the EMT was all too happy to help out. It did mean, however, that he was one of the last people to notice the Halloween decorations going up in an area of the building.
Leaving the med station after a busy shift, Elliot paused to gaze out over the expanse of Madison Square. Two weeks had passed, yet he still chuckled to himself whenever he saw the occasional tent pitched among the sea of sleeping bags. He didn't fault anyone for wanting the added space and privacy, though it was a little ridiculous having a tent inside. Shrugging, he turned his gaze to another area of the safehouse. The black and orange lights were what caught his attention first, followed closely by the people milling about two tables, and a few kids running around wearing masks.
"Someone set up a Halloween party?" Elliot heard one of the other medics asked. "We got more important things to worry about than some damn kids' holiday." Which was true enough, but boosting morale also ranked high on the list of necessities. There were too many depressed feelings cluttering up everyone's mind. It was about time someone threw together a party of sorts.
Intrigued by the notion of a Halloween party, the man started walking, using the colorful lights as a beacon. Not everyone was being drawn to the small celebration, but there were enough to make it all look promising. Of all the holidays, Elliot missed celebrating Halloween the most.
