"If you don't know that the inner workings of my mind are extremely random by now, it'll take a miracle for you to figure it out," Rae joked, half-smiling and shrugging a shoulder. "I like to ask the unconventional questions anyway. You know that. But I obviously want to see this tattoo sometime," she nodded seriously. Smirking when he mentioned that he was good at hand-holding, Rae pushed some of her hair behind her ear. "Next we just need to find a good tattoo artist."
A bemused grin crossed her face when he continued to play along with her silly medieval idea, and then she laughed again when he commented on tights. "Aw, no Robin Hood complex for you? Sigh," she spoke, "alas, a medieval theme dost not be in the cards for next All Hallows Eve," she exaggerated. "Ooh, maybe fifties instead. Think I could pull off a beehive if I let my hair grow back out again?" she smirked, a hundred percent joking.
Thankfully, he either didn't notice or didn't call her on her bashfulness. She was used to being confident herself, but with a guy like Elliot? A guy that she actually liked and wasn't merely attracted to? Well, it was different. She honestly wasn't sure how to proceed, for the most part.
It was an odd thought, that a simple hug could be so ground-breaking. Hugs were the most innocent of all shows of affection, but for Rae, whose interactions with non-familial men up to this point had consisted with having dollar bills thrown at her, rushed, month-long relationships or even-more-rushed flings, this was a big deal. She wouldn't admit—even to herself—that the fact that she hadn't said anything had more to do with the fact that she didn't even know where to start. Something that she felt way down in her guts like this? She had no idea what to do with it.
So for now, the hug would have to suffice, and she hoped that it did.
She smiled a little bit, pulling back from the embrace and looking up at him. "Well, glad I could be of service then," she said, her smile soft and her tone sobered but still very obviously happy. Leaning her side against the table again, she relaxed and pushed a hand through her hair. "So, what was your favorite thing to do for Halloween? Back when you were a kid?"
