"Have you heard of Russell Stamp?" Ellie asked, a bit quietly. "He wrote the Dead Mimi books. Teenage girl dies, goes down to the underworld. Has to puzzle her way out by reliving moments in her past. Those."
Her father's success had always been a bit surreal to Eloise. It was strange to have people want her father's autograph, or to see him in the few magazines he'd done interviews with. It was strange; people always expected El to be able to write, too, but she was awful at it. And to be honest, she hadn't even really liked Dead Mimi anyway.
"I loved the library, before..." she continued, laying the book flat on her lap. For a moment Ellie lost herself, distracted by tracing the title with a tip of a finger; then she looked back up to Sebastian again with a shrug. "I'm not afraid of leaving, if I decide to. But I think it'd be better for me if I stayed -- got used to this sort of thing again. It's something to do."
Her face broke into an easy grin at his last remark. "Famous warrior? Really? I never thought to wonder if Eloise meant anything at all. What about Sebastian? Polite Stranger?"
