Tim + Open
Tim had somehow been convinced to attend the New Year's Eve party, even if he only really intended to drop off the food he had promised to make and then leave the party. The music was usually his biggest problem with parties like this. Christmas time was fine, usually because, even if they were covers, Christmas music was Christmas music and Tim had always had some sort of fondness for it since childhood. It was other events, like New Years or the Fourth of July, where the music didn't have a theme and they tended to play whatever they wanted. Timothy wasn't the kind of sour old grouch to walk up to the person choosing the music and tell them to turn it off because he wasn't a fan of it. He didn't want to be the reason that they weren't having a good time. There were times that the world needed to be able to remember times when they weren't fighting for survival, when Times Square used to be full of people on this night and Dick Clark would be on the television, even after his stroke, and the whole world would celebrate a brand new year with the belief that it would always be like this.
Hearing the noise of the party made him think that maybe, just for tonight, he could pretend like them.
He entered the area in a bit of a backwards way because he was carrying in the things he had baked. It had been a nice couple hours in the kitchen, working on these things like he was still making them for a school function, and it had been a long time since he had made cupcakes and frosting. The regular staff in the kitchen, himself usually included, tried not to use up things like that often, but the baking ingredients were usually reserved for important or big events, and they had agreed that the New Year's party certainly counted.
The table he had placed them on had a lot of things on it already, but everything there was already disappearing rapidly, which made him smile. He loved seeing everyone else having a good time and celebrating, and the music that had just come on wasn't too bad, and he thought that he could stick around for a few minutes and just enjoy the party for a while instead of disappearing off by himself.
