"Emailed details are better than no details," Allie responded playfully. Friends who indulged her need for gossip were among her favorite kinds of people. A more humble person wouldn't have minded if someone didn't want to divulge their secrets, but not Allie. Her curiosity was irrepressible. She giggled at the continuation of the Embarrass David game. "He definitely is. I've had such fun watching his face change colors. Almost like a mood ring."
Allie knew that Rae and Brandon had a familiarity, but the extent and depth of the animosity was unknown to her. How could someone as nice and charming as Brandon have anything but respect for the people Allie called friend? She'd never been put in a position where her lover made her choose between him or her friends, mainly because, well, she'd never mixed company. Anyone she pursued romantically was for a job. Work and friendship weren't allowed to mix — one of her uncle's rules. Fortunately, she was spared from worrying about it for the moment, since she didn't know how Brandon truly felt about Rae.
"As much as I like naked people, I hope the party doesn't end that way," Allie said with a laugh. "You," she pointed to Rae for emphasis, "are way too flexible for your own good, lady. I'm sure Eli's not disappointed, though. I'm looking forward to seeing this dance of yours, though."
It didn't matter to her, whether David was there to watch or not. Maybe it would even help her perform better, having a guy's opinion on the raw material. Rae's assessment of David's response earned another laugh. "Then I'll have two people to point out what I'm doing wrong, and hopefully, once I do catch on, it'll mean I'll be twice as good."
