Her entire conversation with Rae had consisted of gloating over the fact that she'd been right all along about Rae's dancing being the perfect way to express her feelings for Elliot. Of course, there was some gushing on Rae's part, too. About how perfect Elliot was. How amazing and wonderful and smart and how he made her smile. Allie didn't mind exactly, but the more Rae talked about how head-over-heels in love she was, the more wistful and envious Allie became.
She was only too glad when the subject finally came around to the New Year's bash. Elliot was still part of that conversation, but to a lesser degree, and Allie was able to indulge in some gushing of her own over how much she wanted to impress Brandon. She had yet to decide which dress she was going to wear, but Rae had hinted that she didn't need to worry about that for very long. It made Allie eager to see what her friend had up those stripper sleeves of hers.
They were in the midst of discussing music options when someone out of view of the camera signaled Rae's attention. The way the blonde's face lit up, it was safe to say that whatever message was being conveyed had something to do with Rae's boyfriend. With Rae's eyes glancing away, Allie allowed herself a quick eye-roll. She was happy for Rae. She truly was. Allie was determined to have something like that with Brandon. She wanted it enough, that was for sure.
While waiting for Rae to either sign off or ask her to wait a few minutes, Allie took the opportunity to tuck her faux fur blanket more securely around her shoulders, and shifted her chin to rest against her other hand. The longer she remained laying on her stomach, the more she wanted to put her head down and take a nap. Rae's enthusiasm was contagious, though. The energy had kept her awake this long.
Oh, right. Elliot's brother. The one that had the prank pulled on him yesterday. Allie smiled at the memory. She didn't mind chatting with him until her friend returned. As long as he didn't constantly go on and on and on about Elliot.
Allie was in the midst of a yawn when Rae turned back to the computer screen. Clearing her throat, she smiled a tad guiltily at being caught showing a sign that generally indicated boredom. The smile only warmed when David appeared on camera.
She became consciously aware that both Rae and David were dressed, while she was spending the day in her pajamas, a clear indication that they had more things going on than she did at the moment. Tomorrow would be a big day, though. Madison Square would begin its transformation into New Year's party central.
Shifting into a sitting position so that she wouldn't accidentally flash him, Allie laughed softly and returned David's wave. That was cute. Seeing someone wave at another person through a computer screen.
Was it the monitor playing tricks on her, or was he actually blushing? Her smile widened, flashing teeth. "Hi there, David. It looks like you're charged with keeping me company until Raebrûlée returns from her makeout session with your brother. I hope you're up to the task, mister," she teased him.
"Are you coming to my New Year's party? Everyone's invited, you know."
