Leah spoke up about making sure their families were safe and Evan nodded. "I think the scariest part of that is determining how far their reach actually stretches," he mused arbitrarily. It was a legitimate concern, though, and the arbitrary musing brought that to the forefront of Evan's mind. Was it possible that, while they thought that they were safe sitting here and unheard, someone was listening in on this whole conversation and already plotting to hurt their siblings? Evan was vaguely aware that he sounded somewhat paranoid, but god help anyone who hurt his remaining siblings.
"But I agree. God help anyone who breathes George's way inappropriately," he seethed. "There are very few people I trust to keep watch over my brother and sister. Thankfully, my sister is a fast learner and she'll take to training easily. I believe that beyond a shadow of a doubt."
He listened when she mentioned base points. "Ellis Island does sound good, and so does Sing Sing," he nodded his agreement. "Jail cells can be used both as bedrooms and as quarantine," he mused, then paused. "By the way, if at all possible I'd like to find a way to have humane quarantine. Not this whole caged like animals then neutralized like dogs bullshit that they put people through now." Evan hadn't been through it himself. He'd been "fortunate" enough to discover his immunity while he, George and Danny were hiding out. "Prisons would be optimal for that." As would a few other places that Evan could think of, but there was time for that. It was all Evan had been able to think about since they first mentioned it, so there was plenty of time to think about it.
Nodding once in agreement with having an eye kept on Holloway, Evan pondered the options carefully. "I could do it for a decent amount of time," he told her. "And have my sister help out once I fill her in. My brother, too." Especially since he still didn't want Danny leaving the safehouse even with his training. Of the three remaining Marchand siblings, Danny was easily the softest. "I think between the three of us, he'll be reasonably covered around the clock." Maybe not, but it was the best they could really do. That canceled out his plan to move to the Library, but that was all right. Sacrifices needed to be made.
Leah's arched eyebrow was met with one of Evan's own. "Okay, so I'm suddenly glad that he lives in my safehouse, if only because I want to see this go down. Let me know when you're going to do it... I want to watch." Well, that and he wanted to be within reach to stop her in case things got out of hand. He didn't feel the need to bring that up again.
It most definitely was a hard decision. All Evan could think of was that he wanted George to stay as innocent, as unharmed by all of this as she possibly could for as long as she could. Putting a knife or a gun in his baby sister's hand was giving her a reason to think that she was invincible. It was a bad idea, and Evan feared the backfire. "Doesn't mean I have to like it," he murmured in response to Leah's "better now than later" comment.
"Smart," Evan grinned when Leah mentioned pawning the training off on her brother. "If Danny was any good at this, I'd totally pawn it off on him." He wouldn't, but it was a nice thought. There were few better people Evan could think of to train George in knife-fighting than him. As a matter of fact, the only ones he'd allow to do it were in this room. "I'll trade," he offered in jest. "I train Kori and Lilah and you train George and Danny."
Snorting a laugh, Evan shrugged. "Maybe. Got a pretty bad feeling about it, I'll tell you that for certain."
