A silly little smile appeared on her face when DJ agreed that it would be nice to have some time just the two of them. April had never been the kind of girl to get all weird and weak in the knees over a guy, or at least she had never thought she was – but apparently she kind of was. “I like the idea of time all to ourselves,” she remarked with that same silly smile still in place. Shrugging slightly, she laughed. “I don’t know, probably because it’s Rae and she’s like that,” there was a brief pause. “And Lucas kind of lives here too.”
She wasn’t completely oblivious to the fact that DJ and Lucas didn’t always get along, and she knew it was mostly her brother’s moodiness that created that – or the fact he was hard to get to know. Whatever it was, April kind of hoped they would work things out at some point, because she really wanted the two most important guys in her life to get along.
There was still a slightly twinge of pain whenever she walked, but Zach kept telling her that was normal and it would only go away if she continued to strengthen her knee again. Still, whenever it hit she almost wished they had kept her on the crutches for a while longer. “Nope, unless it was a really weird foodless picnic, which would kind of make it not a picnic,” she rambled slightly. “Well, you’ve been warned at least, right?” April knew how to make simple things, but her skills would never compare to Rae’s. “Umm, that was kind of my idea,” she paused for a minute to chew on her lower lip as she thought that over. “Most everyone knows I’m Rae’s cousin, so I don’t think they’d have a big issue with it.” Or that was her hope at least.
