WHO: Leah and Evan
WHEN: April 15; 2020; morning
WHERE: Infirmary, then their apartment
WHAT: Leaving the infirmary.
RATING: Low/medium.
As tired as she was, sleep didn't come easy, as she suspected it wouldn't while she was in the infirmary. Leah honestly couldn't remember the last time she'd had to spend the night in one of these rooms as a patient. Nerve-wracking didn't even encompass it. There were nightmares, of course. She expected those. Thankfully, they weren't as bad as they used to be years ago. The night had been restless, but at least she hadn't woken up screaming. It was also a very, very good thing the medics hadn't put her in one of the beds that had straps to restrain patients. Nothing and no one could've convinced her to stay in a bed like that. She blinked the sleep from her eyes, looking around the room at nothing scarier than the four walls and the closed door. Evan was close, in the bed beside her, and she was curled against him. She'd agreed to a second night in the infirmary, but as soon as he was awake, she was ready to get out of here. One hand smoothed over her belly. Analeigh wasn't moving at the moment, but Leah wasn't concerned. Probably the baby was sleeping, as well. Leah sighed and rested her head on Evan's shoulder, waiting quietly until he woke up on his own. |
