"Alright," Brandon nodded his head and shrugged a shoulder. "But if you change your mind, you can ask me."
Brandon blinked a couple of times and looked at her in surprise. "Oh..." he trailed off. Normally, this would be where he made some snide comment about sex, or some corny come-on, but... this was different. "I mean... I have, too." Bea was smart. She'd figure out that the fact that he'd thought about it, combined with the fact that he didn't come on to her like he was famous for... meant something. Maybe. He hoped. "I just didn't..." he paused, then chuckled softly. "I feel like an ass right now, but I didn't fucking know what to say, how to bring shit up. And it didn't feel as simple as usual, either, so..." he trailed off.
After a few seconds of quiet, Brandon said, "flirting's my natural behavior. I mean, shit. I mean... that's not to say that I'm not genuine when I flirt with you or anything. I am. But..." he shrugged and scratched the back of his neck. "I just thought you were living down to my reputation or something. Expecting what everyone says." He trailed off. "This isn't making any sense, and I guess to fuck it's awkward." Brandon wasn't good at awkward. And this was beyond awkward.
He laughed. "Or maybe she just wants to know what's going on in your life. I like knowing what my sisters are up to. I mean... I'm shit at being nosy, because I know that people hate that shit. Wish I could be sometimes, though." He snorted a laugh. "I mean, could just be her way of getting involved in your life or something? I dunno."
