The fall of carnegie hall had definitely shaken everyone's morale. If one safe house could fall so easily then clearly it could happen to any other safe house right? Danny was trying to look at things on the bright side, that at least their safe house was still standing, but it was hard to remain cheerful when everyone around you was sinking deeper in to depression. Still, Danny liked a challenge and he liked to try and keep everyone's hopes up and doing that in here right now would definitely be a challenge. Things would get better. They had to. There wasn't much further down you could go from an apocalypse.
Tempers were running higher than usual with the limited space and the way food and water rations were thinner than ever. Still, Danny was happy to see some new faces and hear new stories. He'd already befriended a sniper named Marga and he expected to make many more friends. He would like to have become friends with Lukas' younger brother but he'd hardly been around so he hadn't had the chance, even though they slept in the same corner of the room. He was always up to something or another, Danny could tell he was already in trouble when it came to that one.
After lying on his bed roll most of the morning (day dreaming, what else), Danny decided that it was time to haul his sorry ass out of bed and get a move on with his day. He'd gotten up early and cleaned up and had breakfast with his brother, but then Evan had gone off to do immune-like things and left Danny to his own devices, so he'd gone to lay back down and think about nothing in particular. Deciding that a walk about the station was in order, Danny pulled on a hoodie sweatshirt and started making his way around Grand Central.
He nodded and smiled at a few acquaintances but didn't really see anyone that he would want to stop and chat with. He was just about to go back to their corner of the room and keep reading the book that Evan had found for him when he saw a red-haired girl that was familiar. He'd seen her about but he'd never actually gotten the opportunity to speak with her. What better time than now? All they had was the present. Walking up to where she was writing quietly in a notebook, he gave her a small smile; "Hey there... my name is Danny, I've seen you around but I don't think we've ever actually spoken. Thought today might be as good a day as any to get to know you. Mind if I join you for a bit?"
