Rae/Silas
Surprise and shock were the two words best suited to how Silas had felt about the surprise party. Never in a million years would he have thought Rae would do something like that, or that people would bother to show up. Granted, they were also celebrating Zach's immune status and the anniversary of the compound, so he couldn't take the credit for everyone who showed their face. He didn't even really mind that much about the costume part of it, even if he wanted to ditch the mask/cowl/whatever because it was kind of uncomfortable. He'd leave it alone though, since he thought Rae probably got a kick out of it.
He didn't even mind the rounds so they could talk to people, which was a huge step from where he'd been a couple weeks ago. He was starting to feel human again, like himself again, before the gunshot wound and the fucking drugs.
"I think it's awesome, babe," he answered. All the little details from the food to the music that Caitie and Miah were playing. "The most trouble anyone has gone through for my birthday for sure," he added. "And it definitely wasn't too much." Definitely a couple of weeks ago, before he'd started to detox it would have been, and during the process, but now he was feeling good enough to be out and around people.
He leaned down and pressed a kiss to her temple, an action that would have been easier sans costume, but oh well. "You look pretty damn good in that costume too," he told her, "so what more could a guy ask for? You're awesome and I love you." Echoing his text from his birthday.
He didn't want to think about how his detoxing might've almost put a hiccup in her plans.
