"A deal-let," Evan had kind of lost track of the joke, too, but that didn't mean it wasn't funny. "That's... that's a really good analogy, actually," he chuckled a little bit and nodded his head. "Only this particular creation will be about fifteen times more beautiful than any of the paintings I could've made," he added with a sweet, loving smile. "Oh, well then..." he paused. "I might need a little help with the during part. I'm already fairly nervous."
The thought that, were they in the city, they wouldn't be having this lovely bonding time right now, wouldn't be doing this exciting planning, definitely bothered him. He had nothing to worry about now, though, because people would get to his family over his dead body. "It'll be good, when he does. It'll be nice to have a house, won't it?" he asked with a small smile. "I wonder if Brandon's been working on the designs or not." It didn't really matter either way, but it was something to talk about now. "Spring is right around the corner, so there's that." He smoothed a hand through her hair and smiled a little bit.
Meeting his daughter. Evan chewed on his lip, an irrational fear coursing through him that she wouldn't like him. "I'm impatient too. And nervous." Scratching the back of his head a little bit, he wet his lips. "Both about her not liking me and about being a bad parent." Was that rational? Probably not. But he couldn't help it. It'd be more worthy of concern if he wasn't nervous. At least that was how he felt.
That type of irrational rush was different; it could have been avoided. This one was one that he expected. Instead, her eyebrow-raise was met with a shrug. "And don't strain yourself with the hanging. If you need breaks, take them," he threw her words right back at her with a tiny, smug smile and a wink. "Kind of interesting with both of us laid up, isn't it?" he asked with a little laugh.
Evan took her hand and pulled her to a window, nodding toward it. "That pregnancy glow. The beautiful face of a mother to be." He leaned over and kissed her on the cheek with a little smile.
With a smirk, Evan shrugged. "I did say pick three, didn't I?" he asked with a nod as he picked up the three stencils. "The Grinch one is of his heart growing three sizes, so it's still a positive message."
