WHO: Brandon and Bea
WHAT: Movie-watching, Brandon showing that he isn't as dense as people think.
WHERE: Brandon's place.
WHEN: St. Patrick's Day; when all the parties are happening?
RATING: Medium, probably.
Really, he was probably just as surprised as everyone else that he wasn't out there partying with everyone else. This holiday was right up his alley; any holiday that could be celebrated by drinking was, really. But he'd made plans. Back when they'd made those plans, he hadn't realized that they'd be on St. Patrick's Day and he'd miss out on his boozing, but it was fine. He liked hanging around with Bea, anyway. And besides, it was a chance to show her a side of him most people didn't see. A lot of people didn't realize that Brandon Stone had an intelligent, philosophical side. It was buried, pretty deeply at that, beneath layers and layers of anger and violence, but it was definitely there. People knew they angry, hateful, resentful side of him, and because of that, it was easy to forget that he, like everyone else, had needed to work hard to graduate high school, and even harder to get through the police academy. But since he didn't show it much, people thought of him as a meathead. There were a few people who knew the truth; most of them were his family, but Silas and Regan saw that side of him a few times, too. Now, he figured, it was Bea's turn. "When I was a kid, I couldn't really get past the lovey dovey shit in this movie, but I think I kinda get it now. There's a political struggle, too, isn't there?" he asked her, though it was really more of a statement than a question. "Yeah, there's still romantic shit and whatever but there's like... unorganized crime, mention of human trafficking... shit like that." Maybe he was way off base, but he didn't claim to be a savant of the old-style cinematic arts or whatever the fuck you'd call them. He figured, if he was way off base, she'd tell him. And he trusted her not to make him feel like an idiot or whatever. To keep himself from saying much more, he stuffed the tips of his fingers into the bowl of popcorn and put it in his mouth. |
