WHO: Noah, NPC!Ex and then Vienna
WHEN: February 18, 2020 ; early evening
WHERE: Noah's cell
WHAT: potential misunderstandings, dramaz and feels
RATING: medium
The visitor Noah had right after dinner had been the last person in the world that he would have expected. Okay, maybe not the absolute last person. If one of his siblings or Jenna had shown up, that would have surprised him more. Maybe amend that to one of the last people he would have ever expected. Since they'd arrived at Sing Sing and had the massive fight that had led to them not speaking for literally months, Noah and his ex had kept a healthy distance, or maybe that was an unhealthy distance. They were both stubborn, each determined that he was right, and it had been much easier not to converse at all.
There'd been a chance meeting a couple of weeks or so ago, which was what Noah had to assume had precipitated the thaw. It hadn't gone that badly, all things considered, and maybe Noah had felt a little easier deep within himself. He knew that life was too short for that kind of strong negative emotion, especially life as they lived it now.
He'd been sitting on his bunk playing his guitar when Rufus had arrived. Rufus wasn't really his name, but that was what Noah was prone to call him. The origin of that nickname was better not discussed, as deep within the inner workings of a private joke as it was. It just went to show that they'd had something, whether he'd wanted to admit it at the time or not. Noah had a section of the blanket-and-cardboard walls with which he'd lined the front of his cell pulled down to let in fresh air, since he hadn't had any real need for privacy today, so anyone approaching could see right in. He'd been quite startled, but he'd invited his ex to come in, and Ru had seated himself on the bunk right next to Noah.
Light conversation was had while Noah played, and friendly overtures were made, turning before long to a little more than friendly on Rufus's part. You might know the asshole would wait until Noah had gotten with someone else to decide he wanted him back, Noah thought wryly. Fantastic timing.
That wasn't to say Noah wasn't tempted, in all honesty. The two men had had amazing chemistry, and before long he'd put the guitar down so they could sit shoulder to shoulder, bicep to bicep, thigh to thigh on Noah's bed. Anyone who approached and happened to get a glimpse into the 'window' he'd opened wouldn't be able to escape the fact that this was more than two guys having a conversation. It wasn't that they were doing anything, but it was how close they were sitting to each other, the intense eye contact, the soft voices. Noah's ex put a hand on his inner forearm, the section of skin just below his wrist, and Noah couldn't help but shiver. They'd spent time for long enough that Ru knew what turned him on, and being touched like that was one of those things.
It was a near thing for about twenty seconds, but Noah said no and stood up from his bunk to see Rufus out. They walked to the door of Noah's cell and Noah opened it, not really paying attention to anything else around him as he said goodbye to Rufus.
