Kori had taken a lot of measures to make sure that Leah hadn’t caught any hint of what she’d been planning. With Kaija’s help the shower had come together really well, and the cupcakes that Rae had helped her make looked fabulous set up on a little table near the wall with a few other food type things that Kori had gathered. The decorations weren’t over the top, but she had managed to use the nursery rhyme suggestion her cousin had given her. None of it was anything like she would have been capable of in the world before, but she was proud of what she had accomplished with the things she’d been able to gather together. She was also surprised that Leah hadn’t figured it out; Kori been acting so excited about it for the last few days, she had almost expected questions about what was up. Maybe it was because most of her family (aside from Kaija) were attributing it to the school plans. But either way, Kori was thankful that for once she’d been able to keep Leah in the dark. There were a few concerns though; she’d noticed that Leah hadn’t been overly social lately, so she hoped by trying to do something nice for her sister in a social setting wouldn’t put her in an uncomfortable situation. But even with watching Leah like a hawk since she’d stepped through the door, Kori couldn’t see any anger written in her sister’s features. In a few more minutes she would probably lay that concern completely to rest. Taking a deep breath she wound her way through the small group of people gathered and snuck up next to her sister. “Surprise,” she said, smiling. “Sorry about luring you here under false pretenses.” She had created a complicated explanation about needing help moving books around for the school, and she’d tried to put as much panic into her wore as she could to try and hide any trace that she wasn’t being completely honest. “I thought you deserve something a little special, Lele.” |
