WHO: April, Lucas, Rae.
WHEN: [Forward-dated to] January 28th, 2020; Early morning
WHAT: The Algren-Nichols Family has a heart-to-heart.
WHERE: Rae, April and Lucas’ Apartment
RATING: Medium, maybe?
This was a mess. Rae had been injured and Lucas had freaked out and gone MIA for the night. Most people would have been concerned, she was fairly certain that Rae had been – but April wasn’t most people, and she knew her brother well. If anything he was just blowing of steam, expressing himself through one of the ways he knew how. Anyway, she knew hat Lucas wouldn’t be found until he wanted to be found. But when Rae had asked her to go out looking for him, April of course agreed. Mostly because the look on her cousin’s face had been so concerned and worried that she just didn’t have the heart to say ‘no’, or tell her that Lucas would come back when he was ready to come back. So here she was hauling Lucas back to the apartment after spending most of the morning searching for him. “You know you’re easy to find,” April remarked as she glanced over at Lucas. “Or maybe I just know you too well.” She added with a faint smile. Or maybe he wanted to be found. She thought, though didn’t voice that. By now she was aware that when dealing with her twin it was wise to not always say everything that came to mind, especially when he was edgy like this. Sure, he had his reasons for being upset. Rae had gone out and gotten injured, but at least she had told them she was going to go out looting, which was more than she or Lucas may have done if the roles were reversed. Which wasn't awesome, but that's how they had always functioned....but it wasn't how Rae functioned and April could appreciate that fact, even if she hated the fact that her cousin had come back injured. One fight after another… The thought flicked through April’s mind as they approached the apartment, the door was just up ahead now. Which meant she was maybe bracing herself for whatever blow up might happen once Rae and Lucas were back in the same room again. “Could you like not be too angry with Rae, please?” April asked this as they reached the door of the apartment. She turned pleading eyes on her brother, though she wouldn’t blame him if he did lash out – he probably had every right to. |
