WHO: Brandon, Kori and Leah
WHEN: January 18th, 2020; evening
WHERE: Lilah's place (sans Lilah)
WHAT: Stone sibling bonding. Or something.
RATING: Medium (?)
Part of her was disappointed that Lilah had opted not to stay in for the evening, but Kori knew that two of out three wasn’t bad, considering how often they seemed to get together lately. Some of that could be attributed to Mari’s sickness, but most of it, she thought, could be attributed to all of them trying to sort through their own things. She had guessed, without actually asking that Evan and Leah had had something –and argument probably- that had sent them to the outs. And Brandon had his own things too, though she couldn’t pinpoint exactly what those were, and she asked, though she probably should have. She guessed that it had to do with Lexi/Allie, but then she could be wrong. Then she had heard that Charlie West had shown back up, and she wasn’t sure at all what to do with that. But she’d be damned if she let all their own personal dramas get in the way of staying connected. Yes, that was selfish on her part, but she’d already lost one person that had meant to the world to her, she wasn’t going to let her siblings drift out of her life too. It had been a mistake to close them out they way she had. It was also possible that she was being fatalistic too, that she was assuming they were going to drift a part before they actually had. Either way, she wasn’t going to let it happen. She’d thought only once of digging out the Monopoly game she’d spotted in the rec rooma while back, if just to get a smile out of her brother and sister, but settled instead on a deck of cards. With the three of them she was sure they could come up with at least one card game they could agree on. Or they didn’t have to do anything at all. But a card game would give them something to focus on. There was also the little, niggling, people-pleasing voice in the back of her head, the one she rarely heard anymore, that said she should bring the idea of a school up to them. Mari was close to school age, and Leah and Brandon would know whether or not it would be worth it. Maybe they would know what leadership’s response would be too. Kori didn’t think it was a bad idea, she was actually excited about the possibilities, but there was always that little bit of concern about something new, and whether or not it fit into the grand scheme of things. Pulling her sweater around her a little tighter, she settled on the bed with the book she’d grabbed from the library earlier in the day and waited for others to show up. |
