this is lucy having no clue how to play cheat XD
“Hand-me-downs were a fair trade for never getting the blame for anything.” Kori had always gotten away with the most things whenever trouble went down in the Stone household. It was one of the many things Leah envied about her youngest sister.
She opened her mouth to say more, when Brandon called for a halt in the teasing conversation to question Leah's prior vague statement. She didn't want to make it too blatant and take attention away from other things, but it was exciting news. Returning the smile, she nodded. “Yeah, it's a girl. It's got me thinking that boys are extremely rare in this family.”
Kori's teasing explanation was met with a smirk. “The Waffle Incident was a fluke. I bet you'd have a lot better luck with soup. Hardly anyone can fuck up soup. Or even cookies. Cookies are easy, too.” The thought of Brandon in the kitchen was entertaining. And in her mental imaging of the scene, he was wearing a flowery apron. She chuckled under her breath.
As if sensing the mischief in the air, Leah glanced at Brandon while answering Kori, “Maybe. If someone doesn't knock it over first.”
Leah only had to look at her sister's face for a couple seconds. Whether she would let the youngest win remained to be seen. “Cheat,” she said, distractedly sorting through her own cards.
