Who: George and Miles. What: Unintentionally meeting for the first time. When: December 2, sometime after Evan stopped teasing her on the forum. Where: Grand Central. Rating: TBD. Status: Complete.
There was nothing but motion to her. George had desperately needed an escape from the moment and thankfully the hallway had been kind enough to provide. Like all those other nights in the past when everything inside was just too much to express verbally or in written form she danced. And like every time she danced, the hallway was empty save for her. Her converse forgotten near where the hall opened into the main area of the station, her socks stuffed inside.
George moved with practiced grace as she spun and leapt her way up and back down the hall. She’d chosen to stay within the confines of ballet for this particular night, it required more control and focus and she could momentarily forget that her brother was a jerk and that she had been sort of flirting with Mr. Ellipsis.
She could feel the tension in her muscles when she first started. But as she kept moving that tension lessened and the jerky awkward movements that told the practiced watcher that she was stressed became fewer and further between. Eventually there was no sign at all as she moved into a grand jete. In her head she could hear one of her favorite pieces from before the outbreak keeping the tempo as she twirled and dipped.
But even the music in her head had to fade eventually and as the chords faded in her mind she came to a stop, right foot out in front of her flexed and her toes just barely resting on the cold floor. Her left foot under her holding her weight and arms outstretched. Years of practice and training dictated that she hold the form for a few seconds despite only dancing for herself, but she eventually relaxed. Her right foot unflexing and taking up some of her weight and her arms dropping slowly to her sides. She still kept the same tall posture from when she was dancing as she’d long since had slouching trained out of her.
Eyes falling closed she took a slow breath taking in the feel after finishing. Had she ever had any interest in gymnastics she was probably lose enough at this point that if there was still a gymnastics coach in the world they could have her contort herself into whatever shape they wanted. But she felt better and that was really all that mattered at least now she could look Evan in the face without blushing if he brought up the forum again.
