Brandon hated worrying about people—it was part of the reason he hated that Leah was still running around outside the prison walls—but it was hard to think of Regan, practically his brother, out there on his own. Or maybe he wasn't on his own. Maybe he'd found his wife by now and maybe they were making their way back. “If we're gonna put one of those in anyone, it should be my sister,” he joked. “Since she still likes to think she's invincible, running around out there like she's not living for two right now.” He knew better than to tell his sister no, but that was beside the point.
“Yeah, but you know how he is. So nice that you just feel like shit for drinking his booze or whatever else.” The tolerable kind of nice. Not the obnoxious kind of nice like Alghren. “So I'd just end up telling him regardless.”
With a wry smirk, Brandon tilted his head in a shrug. “I didn't say it was your fault. Your subconscious fault, though, maybe,” he teased. He was sure Silas knew that he was just fucking around. When he mentioned the fight, Brandon shrugged. “I'm not totally to blame for that, but we won't get into that because I'm sure you don't want to hear who I blame for that.” A little bit sarcastic, but either way. The mention of Evan made Brandon shrug one shoulder. “We're barely friends,” he said simply. “I think forgiving him is enough of a thanks.” Maybe it was a little self-absorbed, but it was how Brandon felt.
“You and me both,” Brandon replied simply. “Those guards were easy to piss off, anyway. Especially the ones at MSG. Doesn't mean it wasn't fun, though. Remember the time we walked right up to that guard with the seven missing teeth who had the obsession with flirting with Kori and I 'accidentally' hip-checked him down the stairs?” he smirked. Fond memories.
Afternoon? Brandon arched an eyebrow and turned to look at Silas. “Afternoon? Who else are you going to see?” he asked. He had a hunch; he was actually almost positive that he was right, but he'd call him out on it if he tried to deny it. “You always spend Christmas with my family, and before you mention imposing, you know you're not. So... what's up?”
