Eloise came up to Brendan a minute later, taking his offer; what space was left in the bag was stuffled full of folders, a craniotome, a small box of surgical hand instruments. She held out the other bag to him, looking a little concerned.
He wasn't looking so good, either, now that she'd gotten closer to him again.
Furrowing her brow, Ellie shook her head. "I'm sure I'm all right. I can get back... They just sting a little."
And of course, she didn't need to be psychic to know that they wouldn't be coming back here. She couldn't risk anyone like that again, and she knew beyond a doubt that this area was not the kind to enter alone anymore. It was incredibly lucky that she hadn't tried it on her own -- that had been her most sensical decision of the day.
"Let's go..."
Her voice sounded small in so much silence. Listening, there seemed to be nothing but the sound of their breathing, her shifting from foot to foot.
