Brennan was sort of disturbed by how crowded the Library was, but then he was accustomed to the island, and it was a more open area, but he had to admit, he didn't mind the sense of closeness that turned almost to a sense of safety. He was still a bit tired, but it wasn't the kind of tired he used to feel after coming home from work. It wasn't exhaustion; somehow he never felt exhausted anymore, and it wasn't even physical. It was mental now, it was tiredness from carrying fear around even if he didn't show it to anyone, from just knowing that the small pockets of survivors are all that's left of the entire human race. Existentialist thoughts weren't really the kinds of things he ever diverted brain power for before, but now, they plagued him every time he had a moment to himself.
He turned his eyes back toward the crowd, just watching the people just living out their lives, and he was just sitting there, deciding that this was a moment he'd let himself have, and just not think about anything else. That is, until he noticed something the disrupted the flow of the library, namely a woman weaving through the crowds. He wasn't sure why but it threw off the entire vibe and it sort of woke him up a little bit. Brennan shifted where he had decided to camp out and turned his eyes down to his equipment, whatever peace he had found before gone, and he didn't want to fall back in any pitfalls in his mind.
When she addressed him, he was shocked to be fair. He was used to being the guy on the island who was useful but also being the guy that no one really wanted to talk to unless they had to. And she was sort of blunt about her speech. He actually appreciated that, since he wasn't really into small talk or socializing, and it seemed like she had a reason to come all the way over here to talk to him.
"I've kicked in a few doors, actually." He answered truthfully, remembering one of the times he had and had managed to cave in a door with a few shufflers behind it. That was great. "What exactly do you need someone who can kick a door in for?"
