If it had been a situation where it had been swimming or coming closer to the shore, Lucretia would have probably not waited to kneel down and line up her shot. When it was just bobbing in the ocean there, just waiting it seemed like a good opportunity to make sure that she didn't waste a bullet. She hated wasting bullets, even before now. Not even just misses, but if she was aiming for a creepy guy's foot or kneecap while she was chasing him and got his shoulder instead, it always kind of annoyed her. Maybe she was a bit of a perfectionist in that way. She wondered if swimmers went after fish, though probably not. Still could a fish be infected the way some animals were? Scary.
"I can imagine. When you enlist or join some kind of police force, people are always divvied up. We don't exactly have luxuries to have everyone learn everything." Just the basics. Back then though, they did teach people generally everything. Some were just better than others. Then you were partnered up because of your strengths and weaknesses, complimenting each other in some ways. Being totally opposite in others. "I can't imagine them telling me something like that. Something that wasn't there before.." she paused a moment and glanced over at him. "It wasn't, was it? The knife thing? I mean, did that aptitude come after you were bitten?"
As they turned towards the south end, and gazed back out at the sea, it took her a moment to spot the other swimmer in the water. Really what were they doing? The day they all started planning things was the day that everyone was well and truly fucked. The thought that there was even a couple of Wakers out there was enough to keep her up at night.
"It can't be.. studying us, right? I mean these ones don't have the mental capacity like the Wakers do.." God she hoped not. "Maybe it.. goes out into the sea and eventually when nothing catches it's.. scent as it were, it forgets that it's there and just stops. But that doesn't seem very likely. Zombies just keep on going. They don't get tired, so it's not resting. I just don't know what else it could be." She frowned slightly. "You should probably tell someone. Or everyone.. to keep an eye out. See if anyone can figure it out."
It was at times like these, she was glad she wasn't a scientist.
