WHO: Rae & Silas WHERE: Outside Rae’s place WHEN: October 20, 2019; Middle of the afternoon WHAT: Silas being a sort of creepy, leaving a gift RATING: Low-ish, maybe medium for Silas’ mouth.
There were bad ideas, and then were even worse ideas. Silas thought this probably fell into the latter. Not that it was stopping him from doing it. He’d never say that he always made the best decisions; hell, he had some pretty bad ones under his belt. But he couldn’t help himself. He’d already put things in motion, sort of. He was invested.
But he was too chicken to do this face to face. Better to just leave it with a note like a secret admirer than to risk rejection to his face. Sure, gifts given anonymously probably came off stalker-y, especially given that it was the M.O. of Sing Sing’s merry murderess, but Silas had faith that Rae would see them for what they were, just gifts. Maybe that was misplaced, but she hadn’t seemed like the type to go immediately to panic. If wasn’t like he was looking to start anything; there were a million good reasons for her to not even be interested.
The still recent death of Elliot, her pregnancy, and everything that had happened with the murders were just a few things he could list.
But with everything he’d heard happening lately, especially to Rae, he couldn’t just ignore the feelings he had. He was compelled to do something. Even if he wasn’t brave enough to address them directly, even if he was being sneaky in a sense. At least he’d done something to show he cared, right? That’s what he was telling himself.
Even if she didn’t know where the gifts were coming from, she’d know someone cared enough to leave them, and if that wasn’t the case, well he’d never have to know how she felt about things. Unless he heard something through the grapevine, and so far he hadn’t.
As far as he knew she wasn't at her place right now, so Silas thought he was safe leaving the pendant necklace hanging on her doorknob without getting caught. There was a cousin living with her, the kid, Luke, but Silas didn’t think he was there either. He didn’t know how he’d handle it if he was wrong in either case, though Luke would be easier to deal with than Rae. Maybe.
Would it be safer and less conspicuous to leave it somewhere else? The security office maybe, since Rae had been splitting time their with Bea. Probably. But the way he saw it, there was more of risk that it’d never get to Rae if he left it in a more public place.
With a deep breath and a look to his left and right Silas bent to hook the chain around the doorknob of Rae’s place, intent on leaving it there as quickly as possible without drawing attention or disrupting anything.
