Eloise's cheeks and mouth were flushed red from the cold, but at Evan's reaction she colored further, shrugging. For a moment she fumbled, trying to think of what exactly to say -- I have things for you, I think you'll like them -- but in the end simply slid her pack from her shoulders, unzipping it quickly.
A moment later a trioof books was set gently in Evan's lap, on top of whatever he'd been sketching. Of course she'd noticed him turn it over. It was in Ellie's nature to be curious, but she said nothing about it; instead she removed her cap, shaking out all the thick dark hair she'd hidden under it.
