For another semester, it wasn’t turning out so badly. Sure her English class could use a good dose of intelligence, but it was only twice a week she had to deal with that distinct amount of stupidity. Really, it was upsetting how many of them were completely complicit in allowing their education to slip by them without as much as a blink of an eye. No wonder the worlds opinion of the American education system was so awful according to a few of her friends from France. Sighing George glanced at her watch. The professor was talking about the meaning of a poem by Aphra Behn, something about loving two men equally. If it weren’t ridiculously hot out and the rest of the class was participating instead of staring blankly at the whiteboard, George might have paid more attention to the woman’s rather simple understanding of the poem. Isn’t the whole point of a lit course to teach one to look for deeper meaning? “Do you see what I mean?” The professor asked and George’s hand went up. “I have to disagree. It’s too simple to say that the poem is purely about a threesome. Yes it can be about a threesome, but it feels too simple for the emotional turmoil the narrator seems to be going through. How can that be justified by her having a threesome with Alexis and Damon?” |
