WHO: Leah and Bea
WHEN: August 31, 2019; between 8:00AM and 10:00AM
WHERE: The gym.
WHAT: Yoga things.
RATING: Medium because swears.
As it turned out, Friday’s first class was filled with 90% beginners. The last 10% were more or less attending the session for the sole reason that they wanted to participate in an activity with like-minded individuals. That was fine with Leah. In all honesty, she was shocked that anyone had bothered to show up at all. Her prickly demeanor didn’t exactly attract much of a crowd under normal circumstances. So, with the exception of three members who were already doing advanced yoga poses, Leah found herself instructing the majority of the class in a beginner session of yoga. She started off taking them through the most basic of poses, stressing the importance of stretching beforehand, and then moved around the room, studying each person individually and correcting their stance whenever they were in danger of hurting themselves. Before coming to Sing Sing, Leah hadn’t given much thought to the idea of organizing yoga classes for the populace. For one, she figured no one would be interested, and for two, she hadn’t been all that keen on getting back into doing what she’d done before the apocalypse began. Surprisingly, though, it helped to lift her mood, rather than sink it. Sure, there were a few wistful memories of Ben stopping by the studio to pick her up and take her to lunch, but apart from that… this felt like just the thing she needed to keep her mind active and clear. Leah was nearing the back of the class now, her gaze caught by a dark-haired woman who seemed to be having a bit of trouble maintaining her balance. One side of Leah’s mouth quirked into a smile. “Don’t lean so far toward your left side. You’re putting yourself off balance.” |
