Lukas & Gabriel
Lukas had been replenishing his ammunition from the storage room when he saw guards running through the halls, some of which stopped in the room to grab some more weapons before heading out. Puzzled, he followed them out the door to where they were gathering in front of someone who was obviously "in charge". He was too far away to hear everything but some of what was being discussed sank in and Lukas sighed. Another safe house about to fall. Was there anywhere that would ever be really "safe"? At the end of the day, humans were careless and they made mistakes and it cost people lives.
The man was calling out to all the immune guards they had to get over there and help out. Only immunes seemed like a waste to Lukas. Jogging over to where his bag was, he fitted himself out in his gear quickly and put all his weapons in their appropriate holders. This was probably a very bad idea, he realized. He must have been crazy to voluntarily go in to a place that was in a panic and overridden with infected when he didn't know if he was immune or not. Chances were that he wasn't. His parents hadn't been. His sister hadn't been either. Odds were he was lining himself up to be the next infected's dinner. His eyes drifted down to his pistol and he checked the cartridge. If he did get bitten he wouldn't let it come to that. He wouldn't hurt anyone after he was dead.
He marched off towards where the immunes were lining up and the man "in charge" was going by to make sure everyone was accounted for. He gave Lukas a look when he came to him, "Where do you think you're going?" he asked, eyes narrowed.
"Sounds to me like you need people. I'm well armed. I know how to handle myself. And you're wastin' time and probably lettin' more people die the longer we sit here and chat. So how about you shut the fuck up and let us get the hell out there..."
The man's eyes remained narrowed but he moved on. He seemed to concede that if Lukas wanted to kill himself then that was his business. Incidentally, he didn't see the bastard lining up with the others to throw themselves in the fray. They got outside and piled in to a couple vehicles, the guards moved barriers and kept the infected at bay while they left and suddenly Lukas was alone with his thoughts again. Always dangerous.
What if Gabe was in there? What if he was right in the middle of that mess? He had to know. And if he wasn't? Well... he was still going to kill as many of those bastards as possible.
They arrived and Lukas immediately jumped out and started in towards the entrance which was crawling with infected. The corpses were starting to pile up in the entrance where they'd been shot trying to come in. Lukas held up his assault rifle and levelled a few more that were making their way towards the entrance. He made his way quickly towards the doors and climbed over the corpses to get in there and help out those that were still living. It was... pure and utter chaos.
People were running everywhere trying to get away, infected freely munched on people on the floor who weren't fast enough or just unlucky. The screaming... that was the worst part. You never got used to that. There was no time to think about that though. It was like he'd told Evan. You either reacted or you died and Lukas was all for living.
A woman got tripped up by an infected on the floor whose legs seemed to be broken. It grabbed her ankle and started crawling towards her. She totally froze up in the moment and simply sat there and screamed while it made for her to take a piece out of her leg. Lukas shot a small, controlled burst at the infected's torso and managed to nail it in the head. It dropped her leg and she looked over at him.
