For the sake of complete honesty, Ollie hadn't expected much in response to his limerick aside from a snarky joke reaction or something like that, but when she laughed in response he couldn't help but let the left side of his mouth quirk up into a small smile. It was a good change. So many people were so stuck on what was the smart thing to do and what was safe, it was good to know that someone around this city still knew how to laugh. And even nicer to know that it was someone who he actually had a chance to sit and talk with. Who knew if the trend would continue, but Ollie did know that he was actually somewhat eager to find out. For once. He pulled the top off of the Cognac bottle and sniffed the top, making a face.
As much as he missed drinking? The smell of alcohol was still gross and offensive and he would never like that part.
He turned his head to look at her when she laid her cards on the table. He shrugged a shoulder. "It's okay. It's been a long time since I've had it, too, and I remember when my sister and I tried it the first time… cringing faces all around," he laughed softly. Ollie's faces were worse than Allie's, if only because Allie was always determined to keep her cool for appearances' sake. He smirked at the thought of his sister. "No need to get violent. I promise I won't laugh… much. Not enough to make you self-conscious, anyway," he added with a wink.
Ollie gathered a pair of small glasses from his bag and poured each one-half full of the orange-yellow liquid. "One for you," he said when he finished pouring Laney's, handing it over to her, "and one for me." He pushed the bottle topper back into the bottle and set it down on the floor of the fire escape. "Cheers," he raised his glass, and once they'd clinked glasses, he downed a good portion of his in one sip, shaking his head vigorously as it slid its way down his throat and coughing a couple of times. He hadn't quite expected that much burn.
